Windows Authentication fails due to an incorrect automatic setting in the UserSettings.config file

Summary

Windows Authentication in Directory Server fails, resulting in administrators seeing one of the following errors:

  • You do not have enough rights to view this site.
  • Exception of type 'Laserfiche.LicenseManager.InvalidWindowsAuthenticationException' was thrown. (LMO122)

Cause

When visiting Directory Server, Windows Authentication fails due to an incorrect automatic host name setting in the UserSettings.config file.

Resolution

In the UserSettings.config file, replace all instances of the Directory Server machine's host name alias with the true host name of the machine.
Note: By default, the UserSettings.config file is located in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\LFDS.
