Summary

Due to new security settings in the Chrome browser, users editing documents using Office Online may encounter sessions not ending correctly. This can result in erroneous messages indicating that the user is editing a document, or unexpected document locks being applied to the document.

Resolution

You can resolve this issue by setting the #allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal flag in Chrome.

To set the #allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal flag in Chrome

1. Navigate to chrome://flags/#allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal in the Chrome browser.
2. In the dropdown, select Enabled.
3. Select Relaunch at the bottom of the screen to apply these settings.
