Summary

This article documents new features in the current Laserfiche Cloud 2019.4 release.

This update includes enhancements to the Salesforce Integration, the Laserfiche Home page, the introduction of Laserfiche Forms functions through business processes, and more.

New Features

Co-authoring with Microsoft Office 365

Co-author Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents with multiple people using your Office 365 Business account. Changes can be made directly in your web browser, and will be automatically integrated and saved in the repository.

Laserfiche Vault

This release introduces Laserfiche Vault, an add-on to Cloud that enables strict compliance mode for records management.

OCR Language Support

Laserfiche Cloud automatically performs OCR on all documents scanned or imported into the repository. You can now set an OCR language for documents on a repository-wide basis or configure it directly on an individual document at the time of import. The OCR language set at the document level will take precedence over repository-wide settings, allowing you to easily support a repository with documents in multiple languages.

Process Automation

Note: For an optimized experience, we recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Public Facing Forms in Process Automation

Collect information from public users with web forms to kick off internal processes in Process Automation. Public forms can be shared with users whether they are registered or not, allowing organizations to collect and act on responses from anyone. With public portal, you can turn this option on when viewing the process details for a business process.

Integrations

Microsoft Dynamics has been added to the list of built-in CRM platform integrations, and provides access to standard objects in the Dynamics 365 Sales Hub through the Workflow "Perform CRM Action" activity. Data query rules now include options to Insert and Update data in data sources. Define Web Service Connections and Web Request Rules, for use with the Run Web Request Rule activity, to build integrations with external systems.

Known Issues

The following list identifies general issues.

• In a decision table, if an input type is changed from Boolean to a non-Boolean type to Boolean, the values available in the predefined list will be within double quotes, resulting in a field error if they are selected. In addition, if the user attempts to enter True or False (without double quotes) as a value, a field error will still display. (146404)
• If a customer does not have a repository and one of their users configures a Workflow activity that contains a Connection Profile drop-down menu, any fields that would normally appear under the drop-down menu will be missing.
• If you use an Insert Email token from an Update Word Document activity to insert text into an email body using the Email activity, and include any characters in the email body other than the token, the token's value will be a file path to a .txt file rather than the output of the Update Word Document activity. Deleting everything in the email body (including the token) and pasting the token back into the email body resolves this. (114266)
• If you select Set Retention Schedule as the action in a Set Records Management Properites activity, change the selection action two more times, then undo the latter two changes but pressing CTRL+Z twice, Set Retention Schedule will be displayed as the selected action, but no retention schedules will actually be retrieved. (115955)
• If you select an activity in the Workflow designer, then click on the Starting Events button in the left pane, then return to the designer by clicking on the Designer button in the left pane, the activity that you had last selected still appears to be selected, but the properties pane displayed is of the parent activity, not the activity you last selected. (117567)
• When you open different workflows in multiple tabs within the Workflow designer and run each workflow within its own tab, the information shown in the Instances view does not change when you switch between tabs. In addition, you will not be able to close tabs. (144902)
• The SPLIT function in the token calculator does not work unless the string to be split is enclosed in double quotes. (145011)
• The Laserfiche Windows client's Folder Properties dialog box will not display Folder Contents information when connected to a Laserfiche Cloud repository.
• You cannot currently import workflow processes from Workflow 10 onto Workflows in process automation.
• The Read Barcode activity includes checksum characters in the output. (110517)
• You cannot select field values for a list field in the condition editor of a Condition Starting Event when the field includes a blank value. (105808)
• Activities within branches of other activities lose their connection profiles when copied and pasted onto another workflow. (103852)
• Undoing inputs to a deselected input box in the Workflow properties pane may not be undone in the correct order. (97379)
• At a small browser width, the Entity Queries WHERE Operator second-level options are cut off. (79330)
• The Repeat activity may not update its status in the instance report to Completed. (77826)
• Errors do not persist when you refresh the page of an entity query that has selected members for an entity that was deleted. (71791)
• When opening six or more documents using Internet Explorer 11, the browser becomes unresponsive. This issue is not present with other supported browsers. (63430)
• The Entity Queries editor permanently displays the results for each reference member. If the reference member persists after deletion, you may need to remove the entity and re-add it into your query. (59156)
• No error appears in an entity query when you select all the members in an entity and switch to another entity that has some unique member names. (56428)
• When exporting a folder as a ZIP file, the export may fail if the ZIP contains a folder with a very long path. (51258)
• In some cases, when printing a document from the web client, watermarks and most annotations will not be included. This issue does not affect highlights, redactions, or stamps. (46381)
• If a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet is imported to Laserfiche and has the same name as an existing document in the same folder, and you choose to save the document as a new version of the existing document, text generation may cause an exception in Microsoft Excel. (43261)
• When waiting longer than an hour to view a workflow instance notification after the notification was first sent, a search page opens in which no instances are displayed. (43242)
• When assigning a template, default values cannot be deleted from individual fields. They can be modified, or deleted once the document has been saved. (30056)
• Hosting the web page containing the iframe and the web client on the same computer resolves this issue. (29023, 153451)
• If a field is applied to a document independently of a template and is left blank, and the document is exported as a briefcase, the field will be removed from the document upon import into a repository. (28261, 156924)
• Printing very large imaged documents can cause the web client to freeze. Exporting the document first and then printing resolves this issue. (27419)
• Using the "select all" option in folders containing very large numbers of entries can cause the web client to hang and can result in "Thread was being aborted" and "Request time out" errors in the event viewer. (153328)
• If a Laserfiche web client application or plugin (such as Scanning or the Signing Integration) is installed before Firefox is installed, the version of the plugin for Firefox cannot be installed. Manually uninstalling and then reinstalling one of the plugins resolves this issue. (152873)
• When using the web client in Chrome, long list or dynamic fields cannot be scrolled through. (149015)
• Comparing changes between two versions of an Excel spreadsheet can fail when using Microsoft Excel 2016 in the 64-bit version. (143309)
• In some cases, users viewing the records pane for a document will receive an "Access denied. [9013]" error if they have not been granted Browse rights for the document's parent folder or folders. (143201)
• When multi-selecting electronic documents and opening them, the documents will always open in the document viewer, and not in their native applications. (142362)
• On some browsers, you cannot use ENTER or SPACEBAR to select a template from the template list. If this is the case, ALT + DOWN ARROW will work in all affected browsers. (141417)
• In some cases, touch screen controls may not function for large lists. (141200)
• When accessing media files on iOS, media streaming will fail if SSL is enabled and the certificate is self-signed. (140254)
• When adding tokens to a Word document using the Office Integration, in some cases only the first value of a multi-value field token will be inserted. (137547)
• Horizontal scrolling in the web client's document viewer behaves inconsistently when the web client is viewed on iOS 9.2 devices. (133307)
• In some cases, when selecting multiple documents and viewing their fields in the preview pane, only the metadata for one document will be displayed. (129920)
• If you change your time zone after applying an event time filter in Audit Trail, events may be incorrectly filtered. Applying the filter again after changing the time zone resolves this issue. (129892)
• When changing the scan source in Laserfiche Scanning to TWAIN, you may need to re-select the scanner. (124503)
• Microsoft Excel 2013 may crash when importing a file and generating text for it. (115253)
• The Laserfiche app will sometimes time out while in active use (browsing and opening files, updating metadata, etc.) on iOS or Android. (166466)
• The Laserfiche app may close unexpectantly when left in an idle state for two to three minutes on Android. (178985)
• The Laserfiche app closes unexpectedly when tapping on a photo taken of a document with the app's camera on Android. (179909)
• An "Error downloading briefcase" message may appear when downloading a briefcase in the Android app. (182204)
• Running the Run Capture Profile Workflow activity with a profile that has previously been deleted does not notify the user there's an error. (178901)
• Blank and duplicate token names can be added in the Run Capture Profile activity. This causes subsequent activities that use the Run Capture Profile activity tokens to behave incorrectly. (178870)
• The following token tags are not saved after selection in the Run Capture Profile activity: Address, Advanced, Currency, Deprecated, Group, Manager, Shortcut, Success, and User. (177363)
• When renaming tokens in a Run Capture Profile activity, the names are not updated in other locations in the workflow. (177096)
• The Read Barcode activity does not allow running checksum. Instead in includes checksum characters in the barcode value output. (110517)
• When testing a Capture Profile in Internet Explorer 11, the text of the document flips upside down when collapsing the right pane. (163718)
• In the Capture Profile Designer, when using Firefox, right-clicking in the regular expression textbox and selecting "Select All" selects all the text outside the regular expression textbox. (161337)
• In the Capture Profile Designer, when creating a name for a new capture profile, Chinese characters are not supported. (123143)

• You may be unable to type in patterns in the Pattern Matching activity when using Microsoft Edge. (112507)
• The token submenus in Workflows display to the left in Edge. (96712)
• Once saved, you cannot currently modify a Data field in an Assigned Field Value activity. (89473)
• The Boolean predefined list for an output field in a decision table is not draggable in Edge. (86411)
• Token formatting in Workflows is not recognized in Edge. (71949)
• The "Import fields..." option in the Update Word Document activity under the Simple Field Merge type may close when you attempt to select a file in Edge. (53036)
• Menus in the properties pane of the Workflow Designer may be hidden behind the canvas in Edge. (52798, 69159)
• The Undo option drop-down list may display all items on a single line. (52609)
• When an Edge browser is sized so the Workflow Designer toolbar has an overflow menu, the options in the menu are displayed on one line. (52437)
• The export options in the Workflow Designer toolbar appear on one line in Edge. (43707)
