Laserfiche Forms Software Requirements

Laserfiche Server

Laserfiche Forms requires Laserfiche Server (version 9 or later) or Laserfiche Directory Server. Forms is not compatible with standalone editions of Laserfiche (Executive, Desktop, etc.).

Web Server

  • Internet Information Services (IIS):
    • IIS 7 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008)
    • IIS 7.5 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
    • IIS 8 (Windows 8, Windows Server 2012)
    • IIS 8.5 (Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2)
    • IIS 10

      ASP.NET 4.x must be enabled.

Client Workstation

  • Users can fill out forms that start a process in Chrome (latest version), Safari(Mac only), Firefox (latest version), Internet Explorer 11 and later, Edge, Opera.
  • The Laserfiche Forms Inbox, Form Designer, Process Designer, Administrative pages, etc. must be viewed in Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Firefox (latest version), or Chrome (latest version).
  • Laserfiche Forms also supports mobile browsing (Chrome, Firefox, and Safari recommended).

Known Issues

  • When you add the "FormsHostEmailOverride" option to cf_options with the value "http://alternatehostname/Forms/," and then save the email draft, the link to the form does not respect the provided value. (76409)
  • In Arabic (Saudi Arabia), scientific notation from a lookup in a number field is displayed in decimal format instead of comma format. (67832)
  • In Arabic (Saudi Arabia), read-only values from a formula in a thank you message are displayed in decimal format instead of comma format. (60405)
  • When you are using the inbox and then change HTTP to HTTPS in Forms Configuration, you must refresh the page to perform an inbox task. (60667)
  • After you generate a report and then change the report type, the downloaded report will have the original report type, while the saved snapshot will have the new report type. (61162)
  • In Forms 10.3, the height of a single-line row in a collection is 46 pixels on the submit page and 45 pixels on the submitted page. In Forms 10.3.1, the two are 46 pixels. (57759)
  • In Forms 10.3, the "Other" value in a checkbox on the submit page is tagged with "input", while in Forms 10.3.1, it is tagged with "textarea." (63793)
  • Commas are converted to periods when you have a number value from a lookup in a text column that updates a number field. (62276)
  • In all versions of Internet Explorer, you cannot view an uploaded image on a form. (60963)
  • In Firefox, you cannot CTRL + click a list item on the monitor or report page to open a link in a new tab. (56084)
  • The SSL connection option in the email settings of Forms Configuration is enabled for the User Task email notification only after you restart routing services. You do not need to restart routing services after disabling the SSL option. (67229)
  • You will lose themes and icons when you export a form from one server and import it onto another server. (27628)
  • When you create a table custom report that includes completed, in progress, and terminated instances, add a "Status" column, sort the column in ascending order ("ASC"), and then save a snapshot, the saved snapshot is not in ascending order. (51907)
  • A custom CSS class configured on a table field, like "$('.table')", would run twice, once on the li element and once on the table elements. It now only applies to the "$('li.table')", so some custom code may need to be updated. (36465)
  • When you preview a collection that does not have any fields, and then click Add, the delete row button overflows the row. (57759)
  • On a mobile device, you may not be able to display task information and action history in the right pane for a selected task. If you have this issue, update to the latest iOS. (73573)
  • You cannot resize images in the rich text editor using Edge and Chrome. To resize an image, use Firefox. (52631)
  • In Edge and Internet Explorer, you will not see canvas dots when you zoom in and out several times. (54447)
  • If you use a lookup to append rows to a table or collection, and you insert an extra line in the field that contains existing data or read-only data, then the new data will not be saved. (57042)
  • If a field is not read-only, but is in a read-only section, back-end validation will still occur. This may allow for invalid input that is only caught after a form is submitted. (54824).
  • The address column in a report is removed when you upload an older version of the form to the current version of Forms. (27559)
  • Access rights set for the operational dashboard are lost when you upgrade to Forms 10.3. This means that all user will have access to the operational dashboard. (37343)
  • The Process Designer will no longer remember your most recent zoom and position settings, when you reopen a process. (35989)
  • Previously, when a domain was not added to an Active Directory domain controller, the groups of that domain were synchronized. Now, the groups are not synchronized. Instead, you must add all used domains to the Active Directory domain controller manually. This supports adding multiple domains. (34000)
  • For Forms installed on .NET 4.7 in Windows Core machines, you cannot save to repository as a TIFF. To resolve this issue, open a support case to install the correct library. (33843)
  • When you import a form to a new server, themes and icons are lost. (27628)
  • The new validation options in Forms 10.3 may not be backwards compatible with existing custom validation implementations.
  • Single line, drop-down, date, time, email, number, and currency fields have a fixed height of 26px. (153515)
  • You cannot use Chinese variable names when dynamically assign tasks to a team using a team filter. (153135)
  • If Forms is not configured for HTTPS, you will receive a "Geolocation permissions denied" error message when using the "Use Current Location" option for Geolocation fields in Google Chrome. (147718)
  • You may receive a "The operation cannot be performed on database "SampleFormsDatabase" because it is involved in a database mirroring session or an availability group." error message when the Forms Configuration site is attempting to update the Forms database if the "Always On Availability Groups" feature is enabled for your Microsoft SQL server 2012 or Microsoft SQL Server 2016 instance. As a temporary workaround, please disable the feature during the update process. (152844)
  • Number values in Forms formula functions have a precision of 15 significant digits. (143208)
  • The sample URL displayed on the configuration page when connecting for Laserfiche Discussions uses Discussions 10.1 URL format. When connecting to Discussions 10, be aware that the Discussions Site URL may be in the format //servername/SocialBPM. (142735)
  • On iOS devices, you will not receive a confirmation prompt when browsing away from a process diagram and there are unsaved changes. If you are on an iOS device, be sure to save changes to the diagram before leaving the page. (137533)
  • Custom styles applied on the CSS and JavaScript page may be overridden when changes are made on the Themes page. (117442)
  • In Firefox and Internet Explorer, if you print a long form from the Inbox, the form will not auto-resize and thus will not print all its content. (122917)
  • In Chrome, if a user modifies a lookup field by typing a few characters, then uses the mouse to select the actual value from the suggestion list, and then gives focus to another field, the selection list may appear again and the website may crash. This is a bug in Chrome that's fixed in v36 and higher. (115565)
  • If Firefox has touch events enabled, then Laserfiche Forms will behave as if it's running on a touch screen device (i.e, the signature box will not allow typing, etc.). To disable touch events, navigate to "about:config" in Firefox, reset the dom.w3c_touch_events.enabled preference (using the Reset context menu item), and restart Firefox. Learn more.
  • When removing the "System Administrator" role from a group, the change in permissions will occur immediately and, if the current user inherited the System Administrator role from only that group, will prevent them from making further administrative changes. (117426)
  • If you encounter an error while updating your Forms database during migration it could be due to a network timeout. Increase the maximum timeouts and try again. (119660)
  • In Forms 9.1, logos added to forms were constrained to 400px wide. In Forms 9.2, logos' sizes are no longer constrained. When forms created in Forms 9.1 are migrated or imported into Forms 9.2, and their logos are larger than 400px, they will revert to their true size. You can limit their width in the logo section of the Themes page. (116636)
  • Forms 9.2 treats Laserfiche users linked to Windows Accounts as one account. In 9.0, these accounts were treated as separate accounts and, as a result, may have been assigned different security roles in Laserfiche Forms. (110530)
  • On machines running IIS 8, if you specify a Windows account in the Laserfiche Forms System Settings step of the installation process, the following error message can occur after opening Forms: "Laserfiche Forms has encountered a problem. The forms license fingerprint does not match this computer. This error may occur when ASP.NET Impersonation is enabled on the Forms site in IIS." To solve this problem, manually restart IIS. (108766)
  • Oracle data sources do not work if the Forms Server machine is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8. (103901)
  • Laserfiche Forms does not support multiple databases with the same repository. If you change the database used by Laserfiche Forms in the Configuration page, you will have to re-enter the login credentials for the Laserfiche repository. (89720)
  • When a form is saved to the repository as a PDF or TIF, logo and background images that come from an external URLs won't appear in the PDF or TIF. Download the image from the URL and then upload the file as logo instead. (112375)
  • On the Database tab on the Forms Configuration page, the SQL Server suggestion list may exclude valid servers when the server information is being retrieved from Active Directory. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sushilc/archive/2004/10/14/242395.aspx. (117096)
  • When importing a Forms 9.0.x form with a default theme, the default theme will not be loaded in Forms 9.2. Reselect the theme after the process has been imported. (119427)
  • If the domain account which the server uses does not have local administrative rights to the server, the Laserfiche Forms Routing Service will be unable to start. (87639)
  • In Firefox and Chrome, when configuring fields for a new form, clicking on the UI component of the field (button, drop-down, etc.) does not select the field. Click near the UI component to select the field instead. (117652)
  • When the 'Use SSL connection" is checked for a database but the settings in the two web.config files don't match, clicking Save on Forms Server tab will update the two web.config files accordingly. (113152)
  • When using Laserfiche Forms in Safari, certain minor layout issues may occur. (95777, 95783)
  • If an error is encountered during the Save to Laserfiche process, the temp PDF, TIF, and XML files the process created remain Temp folder. (93509)
  • When the "Instance Start Time" and "Task Complete Time" variables are used in an email notification they will follow the time zone of the business process instead of the user. (105923)
  • When configuring Save to Laserfiche, the specified folder in the repository must have a default volume assigned to it.
  • Direct approval (via email) is not supported if the account that's running the Laserfiche Forms Routing Service's region is set to Arabic (Saudi Arabia). (123256)
  • The Process Name and Process ID variables are no longer available in and are not supported in the Forms Designer. These variables are supported in the Process Modeler in the instance name, task notifications, thank page, save to repository service task, and email service task. (123547)
  • Checkbox variables inside tables and collections can have the same name as checkbox variables outside of tables and collections. If those variables are passed to Workflow with a Workflow service task, only one of the variable values will be available in Workflow. (123066, 123332)
  • HTML is not escaped in field labels, the text below fields, or the text above fields. (118320)
