Summary

The Laserfiche app is an Android, iOS, and Windows app that lets you capture, upload, and securely access and work with documents and forms in and outside your Laserfiche repository while on the go. This article highlights new features and changes for the Laserfiche App Server, Android app, iOS app, and Windows app.

Overview of New Features

Android, iOS, and Windows Apps

  • Name Changes
    • Local has been changed to Offline.
    • My History in the Navigation Pane has been changed to My Process Status.
    • Laserfiche App Server has been changed to Laserfiche Mobile Server.
  • Users can now create and assign tags to documents and folders.
  • The Sign-In page has been redesigned and streamlined for efficiency. You also now have the ability to choose a Laserfiche Directory Server organization you want to authenticate to.
  • Users can now place documents under version control.
  • Documents can be checked out and back in using the app. If using the Laserfiche app for Windows desktop, you will be able to use the Office Integration feature to check out electronic documents.
  • There have been a variety of updates to annotations in the Laserfiche app:
    • The way in which annotations are applied to documents has been redesigned for a better user experience.
    • In addition to sticky notes and stamps, you can now add freehand annotations to documents using the Windows app.
    • Attachment annotations that have been applied to a document using the Windows or web client can be previewed, deleted from the document, uploaded as a new document to the repository, or shared with another application.
    • Annotations can also be restricted, for example, a sticky note can be set to "private" so only the creator can see it.
    • The text of a sticky note can now be tracked. This allows users to see the changes to the text over a certain period of time.
    • You can configure the opacity of stamps and freehand annotations.
  • You can now use the Upload File option to upload and preserve an image's original file type.
  • You can now add an independent field to a document and leave the value blank.
  • When uploading a new multi-page PDF, you will now be able to sign every page.
  • The new Show top search results when initially searching option loads the top results first, speeding up the time it takes to load search results.
  • If an administrator requires a user to change their password, they will be presented with an option to do so after initially signing in.
  • Users can now save folders and their contents offline from the repository.
  • You can now choose to view starting forms (under Start Process in the main Forms menu) as a list or as thumbnails.
  • Users can select the Upload File option to upload and preserve an image's original file type.
  • You can now add an independent field to a document and leave the value blank.

Additional Changes

The following minor changes and fixes were also added to the Laserfiche 10.2.1 Mobile Server and App.

Laserfiche Mobile Server

  • The Laserfiche Mobile Server now supports running saved digital signature searches. (152712)
  • Images are now completely uploaded when switching from wifi to a cellular connection. (156286)

iOS App

  • The app no longer crashes when electronically signing an image that contains a high resolution (i.e., a photo taken with a iPad or iPhone). (152370)
  • The image now loads successfully, along with the page number and annotations. (152199)
  • A "SecureChannelFailure" error is no longer returned when viewing imaged documents successively while connected to a Laserfiche Mobile Server using https. (153861)
  • Color conversion and crop are now available when using an iPhone 7. (154347)
  • It no longer takes a long time to load a PDF containing vector graphics. (156068)

All Apps

  • A local form that contains a checkbox or radio button can now be uploaded successfully to the Forms server. (153518)
  • Dynamic fields will now load correctly if you access the fields from an open document. (153539)
  • If the form's background button is configured to have a gradient color, the button will now load successfully. (153558)
  • The Save to gallery app setting no longer resets if the app crashes or is forced close. (154325)
  • Forms lookup data will now successfully download locally when data includes quotation marks. (155913)
