Summary

Quick Fields 10 is a major release that includes new applications, features, and bug fixes.

Installation Information

The Quick Fields 10 installation will upgrade any existing Quick Fields 9.0 installations.

The Quick Fields installation automatically installs Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 if it is not already installed. However, if you are using Windows Server 2008 R2, you must manually enable the .NET Framework 3.5.1 feature prior to installing Quick Fields.

  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Operating system: Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10

Recommended Requirements

  • CPU: Dual core 2.8 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM or more

Quick Fields Server (Administration Console)

Minimum Requirements

  • CPU: 2 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Operating system: Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10

Recommended Requirements

  • CPU: Dual core 2.8 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM or more

Note: Windows 7 requires KB2999226 to be installed in order to successfully install the VC14 Redistributable on the machine.

  • Laserfiche Server 8.1.2 and later
  • Quick Fields Server 10.0 and later

Note: Quick Fields performs best with Laserfiche Server 10 and later. Quick Fields 10 fully supports the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS).

Compatibility Information

Laserfiche Server 8 and 9: Laserfiche Quick Fields 10 requires version 8.1.2 or later of the Laserfiche Server.

Note: Quick Fields performs best with Laserfiche Server 10 or later.

Quick Fields

  • If you are using Windows 8 or 10, scanning from a mapped network drive may not work. Scan using the full path instead of the drive letter, or follow these steps to modify the registry. (141757)
  • Quick Fields session permissions configured under Tools>Options>Current Session>Permissions are not published with the session. This results in the session not adhering to the permission settings when opened from the Quick Fields Server. Use the Quick Fields Administration Console to configure security for sessions. (142816)
  • SingleLine mode is not enabled when applying a pattern to a token. Insert (?s) at the beginning of the pattern to turn SingleLine mode on. Insert (?-s) to turn SingleLine mode off. (132600)
  • Sessions created in Quick Fields 10 cannot be opened successfully in Quick Fields 9. (127227)
  • Stamps on documents retrieved using Laserfiche Capture Engine are not displayed on the image in Quick Fields. (144944)
  • Changes to template or field definitions must be republished to the Quick Fields Server for them to be available in Quick Fields Scanning. (143603)
  • The metadata updater will not close if it can't connect to the Laserfiche Server, causing Quick Fields to freeze. (144741)
  • An Unhandled Exception error occurs when configuring "Send Documents" schedule in the Session Wizard (Standard/Full). (146553)
  • Running a 9.1 Barcode process may fail when using Windows 10. Install Quick Fields 10 and uninstall Barcode 9.1 to solve this issue. See KB 101378. (133053)
  • Keyboard shortcuts for next/previous document do not work from the document properties fields pane. (28435)

Quick Fields Administration Console

  • When downloading multiple sessions or document classes, and one fails, the entire download fails. You must exclude the session or document class that is failing in order for the download to be successful. (143342)
  • Some shortcut keys will not work in Internet Explorer. (144400)
  • Most of the time, typing "localhost" instead of the machine name into a URL to access the Quick Fields Administration Console will not work. However, it will work if you clear the cache between using the machine name and "localhost" in the URL. (144691)
  • The tooltip when hovering over a (?) help button is sometimes cut off when the browser is not maximized. (136475)
  • Resizing the browser to less than 900 pixels may result in information being cut off in the right pane. (115000)
  • When using Internet Explorer, a box may appear inside the input box when adding sessions or users. (113004)
  • When using Firefox or Microsoft Edge, you may be asked for a username and password twice. (117035) (144694)
  • Using "localhost" instead of the actual machine name will not work in Microsoft Edge. (137770)

Quick Fields Scanning

  • Leaving Quick Fields Scanning open can sometimes throw an error. (144127)
  • Dynamic fields are only validated when a document is selected after it's processed. (143417)
  • The left and right arrow keys will not move to the next thumbnail on the following row. Use the up and down arrows to navigate thumbnail rows. (142380)
  • You can only delete one workspace at a time on the Quick Fields Scanning Start Page. (140263)
  • You cannot copy/paste documents or folders under Storage Location. They must be moved. (141269)
  • Annotations processed in Quick Fields have a different z-order when processed in Quick Fields Scanning. (142160)
  • High contrast display settings can cause appearance issues in Quick Fields Scanning. (139961)
  • Independent fields without default values will be retained when removing a template from a document. (136313)
  • When using the calendar picker in a date field, selecting a date, then clicking Today will not update the date. Tab to the Today button and press the SPACEBAR. (133458)
  • Unidentified document settings are not retained on unidentified documents after changing sessions. (143339)
  • If an OCR region is beyond the page border, the OCR token will not be created in Quick Fields Scanning. Quick Fields will create a token without a value. (143186)
  • The Limit the number of entries waiting to be processed option is not available in Quick Fields Scanning. (142073)
  • Using arrow keys or a mouse to choose a template loads each template's fields and may result in slower performance. (136266)
  • Deleting all pages in a document does not delete the document. The result is a document with no pages. (129841)
  • Changing the magnification of an open image can cause a zoom field to zoom into the wrong area. (144044)
  • Quick Fields Scanning does not apply version comments to the documents when they are stored in Laserfiche. (144897)
  • Sometimes, the Fields tab in the Metadata Pane gets stuck loading templates. (144472)
  • Real-Time Lookup always runs when a document is processed even if the When a field changes option is selected for the process trigger. (145069)
  • Quick Fields Scanning does not display messages for the Retrieve PDF Form Content process. (144658)
  • The following options are not supported in Quick Fields Scanning. However, you can still use these options in Quick Fields:
    • Scripts cannot be run.
    • The Run Workflow feature cannot be used to start a workflow on processed documents that are sent to the repository.
    • Documents cannot be scheduled to be stored on a certain day at a certain time.
    • Retrieval limits in Universal Capture cannot be configured.
    • Retrieval limits in Laserfiche Capture Engine cannot be configured.
    • Annotations cannot be displayed or edited.
    • Passwords cannot be required to open or edit sessions. All security is handled in the Quick Fields Administration Console.
    • Scanner operator permissions cannot be configured. All security is handled in the Quick Fields Administration Console.
    • Scanning cannot be paused or resumed.
    • Scanner operators cannot create custom shortcuts.
    • The Find Documents option is not available.
    • The ability to view scanned documents as a slide show is not available.
    • Document revision bookmarks are not available.
    • You cannot scan into an existing document.
    • You cannot run a specific process on a document.
    • You cannot exclude parts of processing when reassigning a document class.
    • Real-time lookup cannot be triggered to run when a key is pressed.

Quick Fields Agent

  • Quick Fields Agent only runs local sessions. It does not have access to sessions on the Quick Fields Server.
  • Sometimes, a schedule cannot be added in the Quick Fields Agent Web Administration console. If this happens, navigate to the Laserfiche Server page, then back to the Quick Fields Agent page. (144958)
