Laserfiche Discussions Server System Requirements

Server Requirements

  • CPU: 2.93 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Operating system:
    • Windows 7
    • Windows 8
    • Windows 8.1
    • Windows 10
    • Windows Server 2008
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows Server 2012
    • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Note: Server operating systems (Windows Server 2008, etc.) are preferred.

    Note: Hardware requirements may fluctuate based on the number of users logged in to the server. If you expect to have many simultaneous connections to your Laserfiche Discussions server, we encourage you to configure it with a faster CPU and more memory.

    Note: The integration with the Laserfiche web client requires Laserfiche Directory Server.

    Note: The Discussions 10.1 integration with the web client is not compatible with Laserfiche web client 10.2 and later.

Laserfiche Discussions Software Requirements

This section lists the software requirements for Laserfiche Discussions.

Web Server

  • Laserfiche Discussions is an ASP.NET 4.5 Web application for IIS.
  • Internet Information Services (IIS): IIS 7, IIS 7.5, IIS 8, IIS 8.5, IIS 10.

Supported Internet Browsers

Laserfiche Discussions can be viewed in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer 8+.

Upgrading from Laserfiche Social BPM 9.2 Preview

You can install Discussions 10.1 over an existing installation of the Social BPM 9.2 Preview. After the installation process, use the Discussions Configuration page to update the existing Discussions database and search catalog and complete the upgrade process.

  • Open the Laserfiche Discussions Configuration page to the Database tab. You will be automatically prompted to update the database. Click OK to start the database upgrade process.
  • View the Search Engine tab. You will be automatically prompted to update the catalog. click OK to start the search catalog upgrade process.

Note: When upgrading to Discussions 10 from the Social BPM Preview, you should upgrade the linked Laserfiche Full-Text Search service to version 10 first.

Known Issues

  • The Archive existing posts feature may be inactive after upgrading from a previous version of Discussions. To complete the upgrade process, wait for a few minutes, then view the Discussions configuration page. Click the Repository tab and click Save changes. (141823)
  • The option to display a Discussions advertisement on the sign-in page does not function with Laserfiche Directory Server single sign-on.
  • There is a potential PDF ifilter compatibility issue when Laserfiche Discussions and the Laserfiche Full-Text Search Engine are installed on the same computer. Laserfiche Discussions and the Full-Text Search Engine work best with different versions of the Adobe PDF ifilter. For best results, install the Laserfiche Discussions Server and the Laserfiche Full-Text Search Engine on separate computers.
