Summary

When registering a repository, you may receive the following error message:

    The Laserfiche server encountered an error when trying to create or
    attach the repository:
    9004 - File input/output error.

Cause

This error can occur when the service account for the Laserfiche Server does not have sufficient permissions to Windows file system locations like the repository path or the audit log path. Alternatively, this error may also indicate that the Laserfiche Server service account does not have rights to the selected SQL Server instance.

Resolution

Check that the Laserfiche Server account has sufficient rights to do the following:

  • Read and write to repository folder and the audit folder.
  • Log in to the appropriate SQL Server instance.
