Laserfiche Suite products version 9 can be installed on Windows 10/Windows Server 2016/Windows Server 2019 and work as expected for most situations. See below for specific compatibility issues regarding Microsoft Edge and IIS 10.
Microsoft HTML Edge Compatibility
- Microsoft HTML Edge does not yet offer extension/plugin support. This affects Web Access's ability to detect whether Scanning or the Office Integration are already installed on your computer. In addition, you will not be able to sign documents through Web Access. Similarly, the Workflow Web website will be unable to directly open the currently displayed workflow definition in the Workflow Designer. If you require these features, please use other supported Web browsers.
- Certain icons in Laserfiche Forms may not display. Microsoft HTML Edge will display a blank area for the affected icons.
- Laserfiche Connector may not be able to detect controls using the JavaScript method. If you cannot select the controls you want with JavaScript, try the UI automation method or use OCR to extract text.
IIS 10 Compatibility
Laserfiche Web 9.x applications are compatible with IIS 10 itself, but the existing installations may not be able to properly detect that IIS 10 is enabled on Windows 10/Windows Server 2016. This can prevent the pre-requisite steps in the installation packages from completing successfully. This issue has been remedied in version 10.
As a temporary workaround, manually modify the registry and change a version number that the installation packages use to detect installed IIS version.
- Open the Windows Registry Editor.
- On the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the aforementioned Windows operating systems, browse to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InetStp
- Look for the DWORD value:
MajorVersion
- Change the decimal value from 10 to 8.
- On the 64-bit version of Windows, repeat the above steps with the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\InetStp
- Run the desired Laserfiche Web application installation.
- Set the decimal value of MajorVersion back to 10.
Note: This IIS detection issue does not affect the WebLink 9 Service Pack 1 or Workflow installation packages.
