A "The user account or password is incorrect. [9010]" Error Occurs When Logging In To A Repository With Windows Authentication After Installing Microsoft Update 3002657.

Summary

In a Windows Server 2003 domain functional level environment with Windows Server 2003 domain controllers, after installing Microsoft Update 3002657, workstations attempting to log in to a Laserfiche repository with Windows Authentication may receive the following error message:

    The user account or password is incorrect. [9010]

See one of the following workarounds.

Workaround 1

Make sure there is a valid service principal name (SPN) registered for the Laserfiche Server service if it is not running as Local System or as a domain administrator.

Workaround 2

Uninstall Microsoft Update 3002657 from your Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. You may need to reboot the affected domain controllers after removing the update.

Workaround 3

On the affected workstations, modify the Network security: LAN Manager authentication level security policy to use Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated. Updating group policy may require a workstation restart.
