Laserfiche Forms is a Web application that allows organizations to collect, process, and route information. Users can create Web forms to collect or work with information, as well as business processes to define how that information is routed, interacted with, and managed. Laserfiche Forms 9.2.1 is a maintenance release. For a more detailed listing of changes, please see Knowledge Base article 1013596.
1013728 List of Changes for Laserfiche Forms 9.2.1 Hotfix 1013728.
Server Requirements
- CPU: 2.93 GHz or faster processor
- Memory: 4 GB (8 GB recommended)
- Operating system: Windows Server 2008 (SP 2+) with IIS 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5, Windows 7 with IIS 7 or 7.5, Windows Server 2012 with IIS 8, Windows 8 with IIS 8, Windows 8.1 with IIS 8.5, Windows Server 2012 R2 with IIS 8.5.
- For systems running IIS 7, ASP.NET must be enabled. For systems running IIS 8, ASP.NET 4.5 must be enabled.
Note: Hardware requirements may fluctuate based on the number of users logged in to the server. If you expect to have many simultaneous connections to your Laserfiche Forms server, we encourage you to configure it with a faster CPU and/or add more RAM.
Laserfiche Server
- Laserfiche Forms requires version 9.0 or higher of the Laserfiche Server.
- Laserfiche Forms is not compatible with standalone editions of Laserfiche (Executive, Desktop, etc.).
Web Server
- Internet Information Services (IIS): IIS 7 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008), IIS 7.5 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2), IIS 8 (Windows 8, Windows Server 2012), IIS 8.5 (Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2).
- For systems running IIS 7, ASP.NET must be enabled. For systems running IIS 8, ASP.NET 4.5 must be enabled.
Database Server
-
Laserfiche Forms is compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012.
Note: The express editions of SQL Server can be used with Laserfiche Forms. SQL Server Express has a 10GB storage limit per database and, because Forms stores attachments in the database, this limit can be reached quickly if file uploads are allowed. In addition, SQL Server Express uses a maximum of 1GB of memory, which can affect performance.
Client Workstation
- Users can fill out forms that start a process in Chrome, Safari (Mac only), Firefox 10 and higher, Internet Explorer 7 and higher, Opera.
- The Laserfiche Forms inbox, Form Designer, Process Modeler, Administrative pages, etc. must be viewed in Internet Explorer 10 or higher, Firefox 12 or higher, or Chrome 6 or higher.
- Laserfiche Forms also supports mobile browsing (Chrome, Firefox, and Safari recommended).
Note: Internet Explorer 7 users should install Microsoft security update 947864 (MS08-024).
- Important: If you are upgrading to 9.2 on a machine running Windows Server 2012 and you using a Forms 9.0 database server, you will need to manually disable Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) compliant algorithms on the Forms Server before upgrading the database. After disabling FIPS compliant algorithms, restart the Forms Server machine and proceed with the upgrade. Once the Forms database has been upgraded, you can enable FIPs compliant algorithms again.
- After you complete the upgrade, if you are using LDAP participants with Laserfiche Forms, log in as a System Administrator and click Synchronize users on the System Security page.
- If you added images, CSS, or JavaScript files to your Forms 9.0 install directory, those files will not be retained on upgrade. Consider moving those files to another location, upgrading to Forms 9.2, and pasting the files into the Forms 9.2 install directory.
- If you configured Save to Laserfiche, backup the SaveToLFConfiguration.xml file located at C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\bin before uninstalling. After installing 9.2, copy the SaveToLFConfiguration.xml to the same location in the Forms 9.2 install directory.
- Custom styles applied on the CSS and JavaScript page may be overridden when changes are made on the Themes page. (117442)
- In Firefox and Internet Explorer, if you print a long form from the Inbox, the form will not auto-resize and thus will not print all its content. (122917)
- In Chrome, if a user modifies a lookup field by typing a few characters, then uses the mouse to select the actual value from the suggestion list, and then gives focus to another field, the selection list may appear again and the website may crash. This is a bug in Chrome that's fixed in v36 and higher. (115565)
- If Firefox has touch events enabled, then Laserfiche Forms will behave as if it's running on a touch screen device (i.e, the signature box will not allow typing, etc.). To disable touch events, navigate to "about:config" in Firefox, reset the dom.w3c_touch_events.enabled preference (using the Reset context menu item), and restart Firefox. Learn more.
- When removing the "System Administrator" role from a group, the change in permissions will occur immediately and, if the current user inherited the System Administrator role from only that group, will prevent them from making further administrative changes. (117426)
- If you encounter an error while updating your Forms database during migration it could be due to a network timeout. Increase the maximum timeouts and try again. (119660)
- In Forms 9.1, logos added to forms were constrained to 400px wide. In Forms 9.2, logos' sizes are no longer constrained. When forms created in Forms 9.1 are migrated or imported into Forms 9.2, and their logos are larger than 400px, they will revert to their true size. You can limit their width in the logo section of the Themes page. (116636)
- Forms 9.2 treats Laserfiche users linked to Windows Accounts as one account. In 9.0, these accounts were treated as separate accounts and, as a result, may have been assigned different security roles in Laserfiche Forms. (110530)
- On machines running IIS 8, if you specify a Windows account in the Laserfiche Forms System Settings step of the installation process, the following error message can occur after opening Forms: "Laserfiche Forms has encountered a problem. The forms license fingerprint does not match this computer. This error may occur when ASP.NET Impersonation is enabled on the Forms site in IIS." To solve this problem, manually restart IIS. (108766)
- Oracle data sources do not work if the Forms Server machine is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8. (103901)
- Rules on fields within repeatable tables do not properly show or hide fields. The column configured as hidden will be disabled instead. (103346)
- Laserfiche Forms does not support multiple databases with the same repository. If you change the database used by Laserfiche Forms in the Configuration page, you will have to re-enter the login credentials for the Laserfiche repository. (89720)
- If a new row is added to a collection or table, and then the first row in the table or collection is deleted, you cannot upload a file inside the table or collection. (117706)
- When a form is saved to the repository as a PDF or TIF, logo and background images that come from an external URLs won't appear in the PDF or TIF. Download the image from the URL and then upload the file as logo instead. (112375)
- On the Database tab on the Forms Configuration page, the SQL Server suggestion list may exclude valid servers when the server information is being retrieved from Active Directory. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sushilc/archive/2004/10/14/242395.aspx. (117096)
- When importing a Forms 9.0.x form with a default theme, the default theme will not be loaded in Forms 9.2. Reselect the theme after the process has been imported. (119427)
- If the Laserfiche Server and the Forms Server are not located within the same domain, users will not be able to log in to Forms with domain accounts. (89247)
- For forms with File Upload field types, Internet Explorer cannot validate file size before uploading. (90029)
- If the domain account which the server uses does not have local administrative rights to the server, the Laserfiche Forms Routing Service will be unable to start. (87639)
- If you use a field variable from a repeatable collection in the "Assign to" setting of a user task, only the first field variable value is used. (96043)
- In Firefox and Chrome, when configuring fields for a new form, clicking on the UI component of the field (button, drop-down, etc.) does not select the field. Click near the UI component to select the field instead. (117652)
- When the 'Use SSL connection" is checked for a database but the settings in the two web.config files don't match, clicking Save on Forms Server tab will update the two web.config files accordingly. (113152)
- When using Laserfiche Forms in Safari, certain minor layout issues may occur. (95777, 95783)
- If an error is encountered during the Save to Laserfiche process, the temp PDF, TIF, and XML files the process created remain Temp folder. (93509)
- When the "Instance Start Time" and "Task Complete Time" variables are used in an email notification they will follow the time zone of the business process instead of the user. (105923)
- When configuring Save to Laserfiche, the specified folder in the repository must have a default volume assigned to it.
- Direct approval (via email) is not supported if the account that's running the Laserfiche Forms Routing Service's region is set to Arabic (Saudi Arabia). (123256)
- The Process Name and Process ID variables are no longer available in and are not supported in the Forms Designer. These variables are supported in the Process Modeler in the instance name, task notifications, thank page, save to repository service task, and email service task. (123547)
- Checkbox variables inside tables and collections can have the same name as checkbox variables outside of tables and collections. If those variables are passed to Workflow with a Workflow service task, only one of the variable values will be available in Workflow. (123066, 123332).
- HTML is not escaped in field labels, the text below fields, or the text above fields. (118320)
