Web Access 9.2

Summary

Web Access 9.2 is a maintenance release with bug fixes. 1013526 List of changes for Web Access 9.2.

Service Pack and Hotfix Information

There are no hotfixes or updates for Web Access 9.2.

Installation Information

  • If you are installing Web Access on a Web Server where the System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing security policy is enabled, you must disable the Allow Web Access to authenticate using authentication tokens stored in the user's cookies option on the Web Access Configuration page. (82655)
  • When upgrading from a previous version of Web Access 8 to Web Access 9.0.1, the installation will reset the application pool identity for the WebAccess8AppPool to "Network Service." (66228)
  • Web Access Scanning is included as a standalone installation package on the Web Access DVD. This standalone installation package is automatically copied to your Web Access installation folder so that users can download and install the scanning client on their own computers. If you know that specific computers will need to scan from Web Access, you can choose to directly run the installation package from the DVD on those computers.
  • Select the Custom setup type during the installation to choose to manually install available Language Packs. By default, if you choose to display the installation in a non-English language, the installation attempts to automatically install the corresponding Language Pack.
  • The Laserfiche SharePoint Integrations are included as separate installation packages on the Web Access DVD.
  • Web Access Light is the mobile edition of Web Access. It is designed to be used on mobile devices such as Blackberries. It is included with the Web Access installation. For more information, see the Web Access Light Documentation.

Web Access Server System Requirements

Minimum Server Requirements

  • Processor Type (CPU): Pentium 4, AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon 64, or more recent processor
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Operating system: Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) with IIS 6, Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7, Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) Premium or higher with IIS 7, Windows 7 with IIS 7.5, Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5, Windows 8 with IIS 8, Windows Server 2012 with IIS 8, Windows 8.1 with IIS 8.5, Windows Server 2012 R2 with IIS 8.5.

  • Database Server: Laserfiche Web Accelerator is compatible with Microsoft SQL Server compact.

Web Access Known Issues

  • When using the 32-bit version of Windows XP, the installation process may not be able to generate ASP.NET mappings for IIS 5. As a workaround, manually remove the Web Access virtual directory, recreate a new virtual directory, and use the aspnet_regiis.exe command-line utility with the -i flag to recreate the mappings. (101369)
  • Internet Explorer may not automatically launch the installation the first time you try to upgrade or install the Laserfiche Web Access Digital Signatures ActiveX Control. (101231)
  • Files dragged from the Windows Recycle Bin directly into Web Access will have scrambled file names. To prevent this issue, restore the files in Windows before dragging them into Web Access. (96727)
  • After rotating a textbox annotation, the scroll bar will disappear. (94605)
  • Installing .NET 3.5 on the Web Access Server machine causes the server to fail. (95058)
  • When an electronic document is checked out or in, the Contents pane of the Folder Browser does not automatically refresh. To check this document in or out, or undo the check-out, the user must manually refresh the pane. (94292)
  • Searchable text will not be generated when importing .pptx file types, even if Generate searchable text is selected during import. (93755)
  • If ATI's Catalyst Control Center is installed on the machine where a user is viewing Web Access, using the CTRL + ALT + C command for copying in Web Access may register as a command for the Catalyst Control Center. (93487)
  • In Chrome, when viewing Web Access in a non-full screen window, display issues can occur if the user highlights content in the window and then drags the cursor outside the window. (92523)
  • In Internet Explorer, the Settings dialog box always opens slightly scrolled-down. (92509)
  • In the Document Viewer, when switching between documents at different zoom levels with the Keeps current zoom and position option enabled, the scroll bar will scroll to the top before moving to the correct position. (92025)
  • In Chrome, drag and drop import may fail if it occurs immediately after the page loads. (91249)
  • You may receive an "Entry Not Found. [9001]" error when you use a URL to directly open a document that contains no pages and the thumbnail pane is disabled in the Document Viewer. (85210)
  • After refreshing the page when viewing an older version of a document, the latest version of the document is displayed instead of the older version. (82217).
  • Deleting the parent field value in dynamic field pair and then setting a new value may prevent the children fields from loading properly. This issue only occurs when the parent dynamic field is a multiple value field. This issue does not occur if you save after deleting the value. This issue also does not occur if you directly change the parent field value without deleting it. (82161)
  • Signing multiple documents can be a slow task. (81668)
  • The Digital Signatures ActiveX Control does not support the 64-bit (x64) version of Internet Explorer. (81643)
  • In the Contents Pane of the Folder Browser, Selecting all entries, scrolling to the bottom of the list, and then deselecting may cause your Internet browser to become non-responsive. (81719)
  • If your operating system's text size is set to larger, the signing area of the Import Metadata dialog box may be partially hidden. (81544)
  • In some browsers, if you quickly scroll down the list of entries in the Contents Pane by holding down the DOWN key, the list may stop scrolling when the next page of entries is loaded. (80946)
  • Installing the 32-bit (x86) Oracle 11 Client may break the 64-bit (x64) version of Web Access. Install the 64-bit version of the Oracle 11 Client. (78707)
  • The Export for Transfer records management option does not provide the option to encrypt the Laserfiche briefcase file. (76544)
  • Zooming in on a page that contains image annotations and then moving the image around can cause Internet Explorer to become non-responsive. (74429)
  • Web Access Scanning uses a custom protocol link. This can cause Internet Explorer to pop up a security warning when using SSL. The Web Access Scanning Web service is still using encrypted (https) communication. (71181)
  • Users with the Write Entry Security entry access right cannot undo another user's check out if that doc is under version control. (73842)
  • The Metadata display in Web Access only displays the first 10,000 values in a dynamic field that contains more than 10,000 values. (80873)
  • Uninstalling Web Scanning and the Web Access Office Plugin will not uninstall the associated language packs.

Web Accelerator Known Issues

  • When using Web Accelerator, search hit highlights are not shown when viewing the document image. To change the behavior, see KB 1013327.
  • Web Accelerator does not run correctly on out-of-date Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 machines. See Windows KB 980368 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980368) or install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1. (106263)
  • If Internet Explorer is not set to play animations, the saving animation will not play when saving changes made to the Web Accelerator Configuration page. (106620)
  • Opening images at over 400% zoom is slow.
