A Child Dynamic Field Drop-Down List May Only Contain An "<Error executing SQL command.>" Value In Laserfiche 9.

March 17, 2014 | KB: 1013453
Laserfiche 9

Summary

See the following scenario:

  1. Configure a template to have a 3-tier dynamic field setup where Field A is the parent of Field B and Field B is the parent of Field C.
  2. Field A, Field B, and Field C are of type List
  3. In a Laserfiche client program, when selecting field values, Field A and Field B display values properly.
  4. When attempting to select a value from Field C, the only value available is:

    <Error executing SQL command.>

Workaround

Laserfiche Server is expecting that dynamic text fields are of type Text instead of type List.

Workaround

Use the Laserfiche Administration Console to change your respective Field A, Field B, and Field C into Text fields.

Reminder: If the column in SQL is wider than the field in Laserfiche, data may be truncated. To avoid this, ensure that your Laserfiche field width is wide enough to hold the information stored in the associated column.
