A "The licensing database failed to send the change notifications to the registered application." Error Occurs When Registering or Unregistering Named Users In The Rio License Manager.

Summary

When registering or unregistering named users in the Rio License Manager, you see the following error message in the Windows Event Log:

    The licensing database 'MyLicenseManager' failed to send the change notifications to the registered application 'MyLaserficheServer'.

If you enable logging on the License Manager, the log file will contain an entry similar to the following:

    The licensing database 'MyLicenseManager' failed to send the change notifications to the registered application 'MyLaserficheServer'. (2058), System error: 11004

Cause

Windows Socket error code 11004 can indicate a host name resolution issue.

Workaround

On the License Manager server, edit the computer's hosts file and add an entry for the Laserfiche Server computer. By default, the hosts file is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.

Note: You may need to specify the fully qualified domain name in the hosts file entry for the Laserfiche Server computer.
