Web Access 9.1

Summary

This article lists the new features and changes for Web Access 9.1.

Web Accelerator

Web Access 9.1 features the release of Web Accelerator. Web Accelerator improves performance in Web Access by distributing resource-intensive processes. Web Accelerator acts as an intermediary between Laserfiche Web Access and the Laserfiche Server, performs resource intensive processes such as image processing, and stores images for rapid retrieval by Web Access users. Without Web Accelerator, viewing image documents through Web Access requires the Web Access server to retrieve images from the Laserfiche Server and then process them for web-browser viewing. This process uses resources on the Web Access server, which may slow performance during high-load times. By reallocating these resource-intensive processes to Web Accelerator, the Web Access server can sustain high performance, especially in large-scale systems.

Changes

  • You can now choose to limit quick searches to the folder you currently have open and its subfolders. This allows you to easily target your quick searches by location.
  • You can now sort by multiple columns at once. When using multi-column sort, the contents of the first column you select will be sorted first; if two documents have the same values in that column, the second column will be used to sort them, and so on. For example, if you choose to sort documents by creation date and then by an author field, the documents will be sorted by date first. If two documents were created on the same date, they will then be sorted by author.
  • Laserfiche Avante and Laserfiche Rio servers no longer allow you to create a connection profile that automatically logs in with a specified Laserfiche user account. You can still create connection profiles that automatically log in with integrated Windows authentication. (98935)
