Summary

This article highlights changes for Laserfiche 9.1.

New Features

Server

  • When encrypting a volume, you can now choose between AES-128, AES-192 and AES-256 encryption.
  • Laserfiche digital signatures now support Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) signatures for NSA Suite B compliance.
  • Laserfiche now uses PBKDF2 with HMAC-SHA-256 and 100000 iterations for user password storage. For existing accounts, Laserfiche will use the new algorithm when users change their password. Laserfiche will automatically use the new algorithm when new user accounts are created. (106985)
  • Deprecated features: Digital timestamps for audit log verification and compressed volumes are now legacy features. Laserfiche Server will maintain previously compressed volumes, but you no longer have the option of enabling compression on a Laserfiche volume.

Laserfiche Full-Text Search and Indexing Engine

  • You now have the option to search through metadata using the search engine. Previously, metadata search was handled through the database management system. Metadata search through the Laserfiche Full-Text Search and Indexing Engine makes the fuzzy search, root word search, context hits, and relevance ranking features available for metadata searches.
  • LFFTS can now index annotation text, annotation comments, and metadata comments.
  • You can also index text and list fields.

Web Administration Console

  • The Quick Fields Agent Administration Console now contains a Sessions tab that allows you to add, delete, and validate sessions. (105279)

Office Integration

  • There are now tokens for template name, entry name, version number, and fields.
  • You now have the option of saving Office documents in additional file formats when saving to Laserfiche (103596).

Fixes and Changes

Laserfiche Server

  • Migrating documents between volumes is now more responsive. (109854)
  • The server no longer becomes unstable if you specify duplicate "within folder" searches. (109582)
  • The automatic renaming feature when a entry with the same name already exists now properly handles names that end with a period character. (99258)

Client

  • Importing an electronic document with a .lst file no longer locks the imported document until you close and reopen the Client. (77820, 106828)
  • 1013320 The Import Process May Use The Email Properties Of The First Message On All Documents In the Batch When You Drag And Drop Multiple Email Messages From Outlook Into Laserfiche Client 9. (106283)
  • Certain check boxes would not be properly selected when loading saved searches. This issue is now resolved. (104163)
  • Modifying a field on multiple documents at the same time could set the value of an empty numeric field from a blank value to 0. This issue is now resolved. (108038)

Scanning

  • Scanning now properly supports dynamic fields. (107479)
  • The Scan File Directory setting no longer reverts to the default value when you close and reopen Scanning. (102234)

Audit Trail Reporter

  • Audit Trail Reporting 9.0.2/9.0.3 did not import certain column values into the reporting database. This issue is now resolved. (106107, 102565)
  • Note: After upgrading to Audit Trail Reporting 9.1, you must reimport values from the audit log into the Audit Trail Reporting database to take fully resolve the above issue. Remove the ranges from the Audit Trail Reporting Configuration page and restart the Audit Trail service. This action will trigger a purge of the reporting database. When complete, re-add the desired reporting date ranges to reimport values from the audit log into the Audit Trail Reporting database.
