A "Network Error: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." Error Occurs When Starting a Business Process From Laserfiche Client 9.

Summary

When starting a business process from the Laserfiche Client, you may receive the following error message:

    Error launching Business Process:
    Entry:\[YourDocument]
    Error Type: Network Error
    Error Message: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."

The error does not occur if you start a business process from an instance of the Laserfiche Client on the Workflow Server computer.

Resolution

The Workflow Web Service URL may be configured with localhost instead of the actual server name.

  1. Load the Workflow Configuration Manager.
  2. Next to Workflow Web Service, click the Configured/Not Configured Link.
  3. In the Workflow Web Service dialog box, make sure you use the hostname of the server, not "localhost." Click Test to verify that the URL is valid.
  4. Republish the workflow/business process.
