Laserfiche Forms 9.1

Summary

Laserfiche Forms is a Web application that allows organizations to collect, process, and route information. Users can create Web forms to collect or work with information, as well as business processes to define how that information is routed, interacted with, and managed. Laserfiche Forms 9.1 is a minor release that introduces support for LDAP named users, participant users, timer events, stored procedure lookup rules, and more.

Forms Server System Requirements

Server Requirements

  • Processor (CPU): 2.93 GHz or faster
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
  • Operating system: Windows Server 2008 (SP 2+) or Windows 7 with IIS 7 or 7.5, Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8 with IIS 8, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows 8.1 with IIS 8.5.
Note: Hardware requirements may fluctuate based on the number of users logged in to the server. If you expect to have many simultaneous connections to your Forms Server, we encourage you to configure it with a faster CPU and/or add more RAM.

Compatibility Information

  • Laserfiche Server: Laserfiche Forms requires version 9.0 or higher of the Laserfiche Server. Forms is not compatible with standalone editions of Laserfiche (Executive, Desktop, etc.).
  • Web Server: The ASP.NET 4.0 feature in IIS 7 must be enabled. In IIS 8, the ASP.NET 4.5 feature must be enabled.
  • Client Workstation: Laserfiche Forms can be viewed in Chrome, Firefox 3.5 through 26, Internet Explorer 7 through 11, Opera, and Safari (Mac only). It also supports mobile browsing from iPad 2 through 4th generation, and iPad Air and mini. Viewing administrative pages (those that require the user to log in) requires Internet Explorer 9 through 11, Firefox 12 through 26, or Chrome 6 through 31.
  • Note: Internet Explorer 7 users should install Microsoft security update 947864 (MS08-024).

  • Database Server: Laserfiche Forms is compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012.

Upgrading From 9.0 to 9.1

  • If you added images, CSS, or JavaScript files to your Forms 9.0 install directory, those files will not be retained on upgrade. Consider moving those files to another location, upgrading to Forms 9.1, and pasting the files into the Forms 9.1 install directory.
  • If you configured Save to Laserfiche, backup the SaveToLFConfiguration.xml file located at C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\bin before uninstalling. After installing 9.1, copy the SaveToLFConfiguration.xml to the same location in the Forms 9.1 install directory.

Known Issues

  • Forms 9.1 treats Laserfiche users linked to Windows Accounts as one account. In 9.0, these accounts were treated as separate accounts and, as a result, may have been assigned different security roles in Laserfiche Forms. (110530)
  • On the Edit page of the Form Designer after adding a collection to the canvas, the collection cannot be moved on the form until the page is refreshed. (110364)
  • On machines running IIS 8, if you specify a Windows account in the Laserfiche Forms System Settings step of the installation process, the following error message can occur after opening Forms: "Laserfiche Forms has encountered a problem. The forms license fingerprint does not match this computer. This error may occur when ASP.NET Impersonation is enabled on the Forms site in IIS." To solve this problem, manually restart IIS. (108766)
  • Forms accounts cannot be manually synchronized while auto-synchronization is in progress. (109021)
  • LDAP named user accounts are ignored during Forms account synchronization unless those users have logged into the Laserfiche repository associated with the Forms Server. (110094)
  • When configuring an Email Approval Server, the Inbox folder cannot be set to "Inbox." (109789)
  • On the Edit page of the Form Designer, if you drag fields onto the canvas and your session times out due to inactivity, when you log in again the fields will not be present on the form, despite the auto-save message on the Edit page. You can avoid this issue by navigating to another page after adding fields to the canvas or by logging out.
  • After upgrading to 9.1, the Start page thumbnails for processes created in Forms 9.0 are smaller than those created in 9.1. Opening the Form Designer and saving the form in 9.1 will update its thumbnail image.
  • After upgrading to 9.1, the Active Directory domain and Use SSL checkbox for the Forms Server on the Forms Configuration page will be cleared. (108782)
  • When configuring Save to Laserfiche, the specified folder in the repository must have a default volume assigned to it.
  • Oracle data sources do not work if the Forms Server machine is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8. (103901)
  • Rules on fields within repeatable tables do not properly show or hide fields. (103346)
  • Lookup rules cannot match a field within a collection or table and fill a field outside of that collection or table.(96360)
  • Laserfiche Forms does not support multiple databases with the same repository. If you change the database used by Laserfiche Forms in the Configuration page, you will have to re-enter the login credentials for the Laserfiche repository. (89720)
  • If the Laserfiche Server and the Forms Server are not located within the same domain, users will not be able to log in to Forms with domain accounts. (89247)
  • For forms with File Upload field types, Internet Explorer cannot validate file size before uploading. (90029)
  • If the domain account which the server uses does not have local administrative rights to the server, the Laserfiche Forms Routing Service will be unable to start. (87639)
  • If you use a field variable from a repeatable collection in the Assign to setting of a user task, only the first field variable value is used. (96043)
