An "Access is denied." Error Occurs When Creating a Schedule Starting Rule In Laserfiche Workflow.

Summary

When publishing a schedule starting rule for Laserfiche Workflow, you may receive the following error message:

    Failed to create rule. View error log for more details. [0398-WF1]

    Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Cause

The Workflow Server service account does not have sufficient Windows rights to create scheduled tasks. Laserfiche Workflow relies on the Windows Task Scheduler framework to create schedule starting rules.

Resolution

Use the Workflow Configuration Manager or the Window Services MMC snap-in to modify the service login account for the Laserfiche Workflow Server service. Specify an account with local administrative rights.
