Laserfiche WebLink works with Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) to provide access to the documents in the Laserfiche repository. WebLink requires Internet Information Services 5.1 or above. This section describes some of the additional configuration that may be necessary to run WebLink on IIS 6 or IIS 7.

  • A default installation of IIS 6.0 only serves static content. Ensure IIS 6.0 is configured to allow ASP.NET content.
  • The IIS metabase stores configuration information for your installation of IIS. Some settings can't be edited using the IIS manager MMC snap-in, however, IIS includes a feature that allows you to directly edit the metabase XML while IIS is running. Ensure you enabled this feature.
  • Ensure the following features are installed for IIS 7 and IIS 8:
    • IIS WMI compatibility
    • IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility
    • IIS Scripting Tools
    • IIS Management Service
    • ASP.NET
    • Windows Authentication

By default, the WebLink 8.2 document viewer will not display the folder breadcrumb above the image display. You can use the Show Breadcrumb option on the Document Viewer tab in the WebLink Designer to enable the control.

WebLink 8.0.1 introduced language packs support. During the WebLink installation, select the Custom setup type to choose to manually install available Language Packs. By default, if you choose to display the installation in a non-English language, the installation attempts to automatically install the corresponding Language Pack.

When logging in through WebLink, you must specify a user account configured for read-only access for WebLink to properly use retrieval licenses. Similarly, the Public Portal Licensing and Web Distribution Portal Licensing features only take effect when logged in with a user account configured for read-only access.

Installation Information

WebLink is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit. By default, the installation process will automatically install the version corresponding to your version of Microsoft Windows. Because IIS 6.0 does not support running 32-bit and 64-bit worker processes concurrently, you may need to explicitly install the 32-bit version of WebLink on a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP. The WebLink installation's setup.exe supports a /force32bit command-line parameter.

  1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, and click Command Prompt to load a command prompt.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following:
  3. "C:\temp\WebLink8.2\en-US\WebAccess\Install\setup.exe" /force32bit

  4. Replace "C:\temp\WebLink8.2" with the actual location of the WebLink installation package.
