Summary

Laserfiche Distributed Processing 9.0 Beta enables Laserfiche client applications to send the processing work for certain tasks to machines where Distributed Processing is installed. Used with the Schedule OCR activity in Workflow 9.0.2, the Distributed Processing 9.0 Beta can perform OCR processing on documents in the Laserfiche repository. This release comes packaged with a special Web Administration Console 9.1 Preview for administering Distributed Processing.

Distributed Processing System Requirements

  • Processor (CPU): 2.93 GHz or faster multi-core processor
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
  • Operating system: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.
  • Note: The number of concurrent tasks a Worker can perform is usually limited to the number of processor cores on the machine hosting it. To increase Worker performance, install them on machines with multi-core processors.

    Note: When you install the Laserfiche Distributed Processing Service, PowerShell modules for administering the service are also installed. In order for these modules to be installed, the machine must have PowerShell 2.0 or higher installed. Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista do not come with PowerShell 2.0.

Web Administration Console 9.1 Preview Requirements

  • Web Server IIS 7 (Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008), IIS 7.5 (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2), IIS 8 (Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012). In addition, Microsoft .NET Framework 4 must be installed.
  • Web Browser Internet Explorer 8 or later, Firefox 3 or later, Safari, Chrome

Compatibility Information

  • Laserfiche Server: Distributed Processing requires version 9.0 or higher of the Laserfiche Server. Forms is not compatible with standalone editions of Laserfiche (Executive, Desktop, etc.).
  • Web Administration Console: To administer Distributed Processing through the Web Administration Console, you must use the Web Administration Console 9.1 Preview packaged with Distributed Processing.
  • Workflow: Distributed Processing can be used with Workflow 9.0.2 or higher.

Known Issues

  • On Windows Server 2008 machines, Distributed Processing services running as the Local System account cannot authenticate to other machines using Windows Authentication. To fix this issue, run the services as a domain user that has been added to the Worker Distributed Processing authorization group in the Web Administration Console.
