Increasing Timeout Values for Retrieving Server Information In High Latency Connections.

October 29, 2012 | KB: 1013071
Laserfiche 8, Laserfiche 9

Summary

In high latency networks where ping times between the Laserfiche Server and the client computer are larger than 500ms, the Laserfiche Client may time out when trying to retrieve information from the Laserfiche Server. In this scenario, you may need to increase certain timeout limits for the client or you may receive login errors similar to the following:

    Operation timed out. [784]

Could not connect to the Laserfiche Server. [797]

More Information

In the Windows Registry, under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\LFSO\9.0 registry key, create the following 2 DWORD values:

  • ServerInfoTimeoutMilliseconds
  • DatabaseListHTTPTimeoutMilliseconds

For example, set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\LFSO\9.0\ServerInfoTimeoutMilliseconds and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\LFSO\9.0\DatabaseListHTTPTimeoutMilliseconds both to 5000 milliseconds.

Note: LFSO81 through LFSO83 also support the above 2 values. Instead of the 9.0 subkey, create the DWORD values under the 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3 subkeys.
