The First User That Attempts To Log In To Laserfiche Web Access 8 Or WebLink 8 May Experience A Long Wait Time.

August 27, 2012 | KB: 1013037
Web Access 8, WebLink 8

Summary

The login process may be unexpectedly slow for the first user that attempts to log in to Laserfiche Web Access 8 or WebLink 8. Subsequent users that connect to Web Access or WebLink do not have this delay. If there is some amount of inactivity on the Web server, the first user that attempts to log in to Web Access or WebLink after this period of inactivity will again experience the longer that usual login time. Subsequent visitors again do not encounter this login delay.

Workaround

As a workaround, set a longer Idle Time-out value on the Web Access 8 and WebLink 8 application pools to extend the amount of time before IIS stops the worker process, preventing the need to recreate the worker process for the next initial user.

To configure the idle time-out value for an IIS 7 application pool

  1. Load Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. Select the Application Pools item.
  3. In the center pane, select the appropriate application pool. By default, Web Access 8 runs in the WebAccess8AppPool application pool and WebLink 8 runs in the WebLink8AppPool application pool.
  4. In the Actions pane, click Advanced Settings.
  5. Under the Process Model section, modify the value for the Idle Time-out (minutes) setting.
