Windows Server 2008 Requires The Desktop Experience Feature To Use The WebDAV Redirector.

Laserfiche 8, Laserfiche 9

Summary

If you are on a Windows Server 2008 computer and attempt to create a mapped drive to your Laserfiche repository, Windows may simply state that it cannot connect to the specified path. WebDAV is otherwise configured correctly for your Laserfiche Server.

Cause

In order to use the WebDAV Redirector to create a mapped drive on a Windows Server 2008 computer, you must enable the Desktop Experience Windows feature.

Note: The Desktop Experience feature is only required if you want to create a map drive on the Windows Server 2008 computer. If you are hosting your Laserfiche Server on a Windows Server 2008 computer, but only need to create mapped drives on client workstations running a non-server Windows operating system (e.g., Windows 7), you do not need to enable the Desktop Experience feature on your Windows Server 2008 computer.

Resolution

Enable the Desktop Experience option from the Add Features Wizard in the Server Manager.

To enable the Desktop Experience feature

  1. Open Server Manager.
  2. Select the Features item.
  3. In the Features Summary section, click Add Features.
  4. In the Add Features Wizard dialog box, select the Desktop Experience option and click Next.
