This article details Service Pack 2 (hotfix 1013009) for Laserfiche 8.3.1. The fix includes an .exe file that updates various components of the Laserfiche 8.3.1 product suite.
Laserfiche Server
The Laserfiche Server update includes the following changes:
- You no longer receive an error when attaching a Laserfiche 7 volume to your Laserfiche 8 repository when the legacy volume contains a template that matches the name of an existing template, but contains incompatible fields. (91343)
- Laserfiche now correctly reverts page numbers when you use the Undo Check Out option on a document that contains pages moved from another document that is also under version control. (91183)
- Laserfiche no longer allows you to register more named users than are allowed by the license. Previously, this situation would then prevent all users from being able to log in. (89746)
- You no longer receive an "A syntax error was encountered while processing the search or query statement. [9084:0xc004237c]" error message when using the the Text search type in the Laserfiche Client and specify a phrase that contains "and." (87582)
- Laserfiche no longer clears the set event date after viewing a record folder's Record Folder Properties dialog box for a record folder with an Interval+Event cutoff instruction type. (89100)
- When generating a SQL query plan, Laserfiche now tries to avoid using the "NOT EXISTS" operator. This operator can cause search performance issues for users without the Bypass Filter Expressions privilege. (88964)
- You should see search performance improvement for field searches in repositories with folder filter expressions. (88483)
- You no longer receive a "General database error. [9008]" error message when executing LFQL queries involving the tag virtual tables if you do not have the Manage Tags privilege and there are tags assigned to entries. (89713)
- Some searches did not return correct results if the internal application name for the LFSO connection contained any of the letters: L, F, S, or O. This issue is now resolved. (90010)
- Read-Only users can now delete their trustee attributes.
- LFQL queries can now correctly retrieve electronic documents from encrypted volumes. (90506)
The Laserfiche Server update includes the following file versions:
- cr.dll (8.3.1.663)
- httpserv.dll (8.3.1.663)
- lfbriefcase.dll (8.3.1.663)
- ms-upg30.sql (last updated April 26, 2012)
- ora-upg30.sql (last updated April 26, 2012)
- lfwicutil (8.3.0.109)

- lfso83.dll (8.3.1.660)
Laserfiche Client
The Laserfiche Client includes the following changes:
- When you OCR a document that contains a protected annotation added by a different user, you could receive a "Cannot modify protected annotation. [1106]" error message. Previously, if you were in the process of OCR'ing multiple documents, this error would block the process until a user clicked through the error dialog box. Laserfiche now displays this error message in the Processing dialog box and skips the document to continue with additional documents in the queue. (89823)
- Laserfiche no longer incorrectly removes dynamic field values that contain trailing spaces when you change the value of a different parent field. (89198)
- The Search Results Pane now properly remembers the specified sort column when you re-run the same search. (87764)
- This fix includes stability fixes for a few rare crashes. (91233)
- Laserfiche no longer loses track of changes you make to a document that is open currently in a Document Viewer window, after you OCR or extract text from a different document in the Folder Browser window. (87351)
- You can once again leave the Selected Attachments dialog box open and append documents to the list of selected attachments. (87550)
- After you create a new folder from the Folder Tree Pane, the new folder appears to be selected in the Contents Pane. However, if you attempt to perform an action, Laserfiche will perform the action on the parent folder selected in the Folder Tree Pane. This issue is now resolved. (88259)
- You no longer receive an error 9013 when refreshing a folder after another user has moved a document from that folder to a different folder where you no longer have read rights on the document. (89236)
- You can again use CTRL + ENTER and CTRL + double-click to open an electronic document using the non-default view mode. (87968)
- Laserfiche now correctly remembers whether you have chosen to display the Deleted By, Page Number, and Electronic ID columns in the Recycle Bin. (89228)
- Laserfiche can now generate image pages for PDF pages that contain non-standard parameters. Previously, such pages would be blank in the generated imaged document. (89541)
- Laserfiche now correctly handles another situation where generating image pages for a specific PDF file could invert the black and white colors. (89638)
- Modifying field data on a document could incorrectly remove independent fields of type Data that are assigned to the document. This issue is now resolved. (89743)
- Laserfiche now properly displays all available values in a multiple-value list field when the list field contains more than 52 available items in the list. (89130)
- In certain situations, the Laserfiche Client could become unstable when you select values in a dynamic field. This issue is now resolved. (86150)
- When you copy a page from a document, paste it into a folder as a new document, and select the Use parent folder's default volume option in the New Document dialog box, Laserfiche could create the new document in the source document's volume instead of default volume for the parent folder. This issue is now resolved. (89735)
- Laserfiche now attempts to display non-compliant TIFF JPEG images that are incorrectly encoded instead of displaying a "The selected page does not have an image. [2106:0x8004083a]" error message. (89747)
- Laserfiche now correctly imports certain TIFF files that would previously invert the black and white colors. (89951, 90262)
