Summary

A slow connection between the Web Access Server and the Laserfiche Server can result in an unacceptable user experience.

Potential Causes and Solutions

  • A large network distance between the two servers is causing high ping time between the machines. To resolve this issue, consider moving them closer together.
  • A firewall, proxy, or anti-virus application is introducing latency. Various applications or hardware devices may be attempting to scan the network communications between the two servers, looking for malicious content in either requests or responses. This can add a noticeable delay to every request. Consult with your IT staff to determine the cause and solution to this situation.
  • During the login process, the Laserfiche 8 Server looks up your client host name through DNS. In certain network configurations, this process may be slow. To resolve this issue, add an entry in the DNS server with the name of the Web Access Server and the IP address that Web Access requests will come from. Or, to prevent the Laserfiche Server from doing this lookup, see 1012934 ISSUE: Logging In Through Laserfiche 8 Client Programs May Be Slow In Certain Network Configurations.
