Summary

The Laserfiche Client 8.2 or 8.3 Document Viewer only gives you the option of displaying 2 panes side-by-side.

Cause

This issue can occur if you upgraded to Laserfiche Client 8.2 or 8.3 from Laserfiche Client 8.0 or 8.1. As legacy functionality, the Options dialog box in Laserfiche Client 8.0 and 8.1 allowed you to choose between standard document layout and classic document layout. Classic layout split the Document Viewer into halves.

Laserfiche Client 8.2 and later removes this legacy option from the Options dialog box, but retains backwards compatibility for existing installations where the option is already set.

Resolution

Use the Laserfiche 8 Administration Console Manually to set the value of the [SETTINGS]SimpleDocViewLayout attribute to No for the affected user.

1. Load the Laserfiche 8 Administration Console and log in to your repository.
2. Under the Users and Groups node, view the properties for the desired Laserfiche user or Windows account.
3. In the Trustee Properties dialog box, click the Attributes tab.
4. View the SETTINGS subset.
5. Double-click the SimpleDocViewLayout attribute and set the value to No.
