Summary

When installing a Quick Fields 8.0 Language Pack over Quick Fields 8.0.2, you may receive the following error message:

The language pack cannot be installed before the main Laserfiche Quick Fields 8.0.1 installation is complete. Please install Laserfiche Quick Fields 8.0.1.

Cause

This issue can affect certain new installations of Quick Fields 8.0.2. The Quick Fields 8.0 Language Packs check for registry values that may not exist for fresh installations of Quick Fields 8.0.2.

Workaround

You can manually add the necessary registry key and values.

Warning: Incorrectly editing the registry may adversely affect your system. Before you edit the registry, make sure you create a backup and understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs.

1. Load the Windows Registry Editor.
2. Do one of the following:
   • For 32-bit version of Windows: create this registry key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{EF208E4B-8506-40DF-B08C-E3DC6C3A564D}

   • For 64-bit version of Windows: create this registry key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{EF208E4B-8506-40DF-B08C-E3DC6C3A564D}

3. In the newly created key, create a DWORD value named:

Version

4. Set the value of Version to this hexadecimal value:

8000001

5. Within the same key, create a string value named:

InstallLocation

6. Set the value of InstallLocation to the appropriate installation path of Quick Fields 8.0.2. On a 32-bit version of Windows, the installation path is usually:

C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Quick Fields 8.0
