Laserfiche Mobile 8.2.2 enables you to access and work with your documents in your repository from your iPad and iPhone.
System Requirements
- iOS 4.0 and up; printing is only supported on iOS 4.2 and up
- iPhone 4, 4S
- iPad 1, 2, 3
- If image processing is enabled, it is recommended that Web Access and the Laserfiche Mobile Add-on for Web Access be installed on a machine with a minimum of 2 cores and should not be installed on the machine that also hosts the Laserfiche Server or database.
General
- If you are using a device with 128MB RAM (iPhone 3G or iPod 2nd generation or lower), the application is slower in general (It's recommended to use the app on a 256MB device).
- If you follow a Laserfiche Mobile link to a different repository than the one you are in, you will not be prompted to log out and your connection will be left open until it times out.
- Lasefiche Mobile links will only work on iOS 4.2 or later. If Laserfiche Mobile is installed on iOS 4.1 or earlier, the app will open but the URL and Repository text boes on the Login page will not be populated.
- If you install the Laserfiche Client on a machine where the Laserfiche Mobile Add-on for Web Access is running, you will need to restart the machine after the installation (on newer machines you may see a warning stating that the "Laserfiche Mobile Image Processing Service is in use"). To avoid having to restart the machine, stop the Laserfiche Mobile Image Processing Service before running the Client installation, then start the service again after the installation.
Browse
- Users without the Delete right will see the delete function in the user interface, but they will not be able to delete entries they don't have Delete rights to.
- The New Document option will be enabled in a Record Series even though documents cannot be created directly under a Record Series. Users will be prompted to select a different location when attempting to create a new document.
- The color of a document icon does not update after assigning a template until the folder is reloaded.
Document View
- You cannot view thumbnails on the iPhone.
- You cannot view annotations on a document (except for redactions burned into the image).
- The Document Viewer may not update properly if pages are updated from another Client. The workaround is to refresh the document (by viewing a different document).
- Rotating mixed DPI images on the iPhone or iPad can cause those images to appear stretched. On the iPad, exiting the Document Viewer and opening the document again will cause the image to correctly display.
Capture
- It takes a little time for an image to be uploaded and its text to be OCRed. It will not show up immediately.
- The Text with Crop process sometimes doesn't work with certain images. If this happens, retake the picture and try to upload it again.
- If the Laserfiche Mobile Image Processing service is off, processing will not occur on captured documents. Also, once the service is started the profile configuration will not display OCR languages until the app is restarted.
- The "focus" function of the camera will not work on iPhones running iOS 4.2 or earlier. (This refers to manually tapping a spot on the screen to get it to focus. Automatic focus still works.)
- If you redefine a processing profile while a document is currently being processed with that profile, the profile will be applied with the new definition instead of the old one.
- Upload from Photo Library is bugged when using capture on iPhone 3 with iOS5.
Metadata
- Long field names will not be completely displayed.
- Long, multiple lines of field values will not be completely displayed.
- Templates, fields, and document properties are the only metadata that can be displayed. Tags, links, versions and digital signatures will not be displayed.
- Custom constraint "hints" will not be displayed in the fields. (For example, if your contraint is ###-##-#### for a Social Security number, the "-" will not be displayed in the field, it will be blank.)
- New templates will not be visible in the template list until the app restarts.
- Last modified date doesn't update until you close and reopen the Metadata Pane after editing metadata.
Search
- Search hits are bolded in the Text View of the Document Viewer. Hits are highlighted with the user-specified colour in the Image View.
- You can not navigate to the next/previous search hit.
- You can not run saved/recent searches.
iPad
- You cannot create a new folder while inside the folder where you have a document being cut or copied from.
- Creating a new folder with a name that ends with a space will fail with an incorrect "folder already exists" message.
- In iOS4, the Image, Text, and Electronic File icons in the Document Viewer are the wrong color scheme and are difficult to read.
- In iOS4.3.5, Showing/Hiding the Metadata Pane is slower when viewing electronic documents in the Document Viewer than it is with imaged documents. Fixed with iOS5.
- Password protected PDFs do not prompt the user for a password after downloading and do not properly display. Fixed with iOS5.
- In the Document Viewer, fillable PDF forms do not properly display with their filled-in content.
- Being logged in to the app for an extended period of time and uploading a large number of images or navigating extensive folder structures with the Breadcrumb can cause the iPad to run out of memory and the app to crash.
- The Image with Text process often doesn't work with lower resolution iPad 2 images. If this happens, retake the picture and try to upload it again.
