Summary

Laserfiche Plus 8.1.3 is a maintenance release that now allows you to e-mail documents from the Plus Viewer. The Plus Viewer also now uses less disk space. For more changes, please see Knowledge Base article 1012909.

Laserfiche Plus Publisher Requirements

This section lists the requirements for the Laserfiche Plus Publisher. The Plus Publisher is installed on the same computer as a Laserfiche Client and is used to create the published repository.

  • Laserfiche Client: version 8.0.2 or higher
  • Laserfiche Server: version 8.0.2 or higher
  • Image Mastering API: Microsoft Image Mastering API 2.0 (IMAPIv2.0), available from Microsoft at KB952011. Required for writing files directly to CD, DVD, Blu-ray, or publishing as an ISO file.

Note: If you plan to publish a repository to a DVD, CD, or Blu-ray, then you will need a DVD, CD, or Blu-ray write device.

Laserfiche Plus Viewer Requirements

This section lists the requirements for the Laserfiche Plus Viewer. The Plus Viewer runs from the published media and is used to distribute the published repository.

  • CPU: 700 MHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 256 MB RAM
  • Operating system: Windows XP (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), Windows Vista (Service Pack 1), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7
  • Web browser: Internet Explorer 6.0

Laserfiche Plus Activation

The Laserfiche Plus Publisher requires users to register within 15 days of product installation. You will be prompted to register when you launch the Plus Publisher. After the 15-day grace period, Plus will return an error prompting you to activate the product.

The Laserfiche Plus license activation program requires .NET Framework version 3.0 or higher. If .NET Framework is not already installed, the Plus installation program will install .NET Framework 3.5.

Laserfiche Plus will be deactivated automatically when it is uninstalled. If you want to transfer your Plus installation to another machine (for instance, if you are upgrading to a newer computer), you will need to uninstall Plus on the original computer and then install and re-activate it on the new computer.

Known Issues

  • The "Publish files in search results" option will not be available when launching the Plus Wizard from Laserfiche Client 8.0.2. (53639)
  • If you choose to exclude electronic documents from the published repository, Plus creates empty placeholder documents for those documents in the published repository. (53552)
  • The amount of time needed for the publishing process can vary greatly depending on several factors.
    • The publishing process will automatically generate thumbnails if needed for the published Plus repository. This can add significant time to the publishing process if you choose to publish a large number of documents with pages that do not have already generated thumbnail images. (53427)
    • Having to insert a large amount of metadata into the published repository can add to the publishing time. (53427)
  • The e-mail notification feature requires access to a valid SMTP server. If you want to use a Web-based e-mail address, please verify that your Web-based e-mail provider includes SMTP support. (53426)
  • With Windows Server 2008, if you are viewing a repository on the network and your local intranet security settings are very restrictive, the Plus Viewer search interface may not appear correctly because the security settings may disable some of its scripts. To use the search interface, you can either decrease the security settings in Internet Explorer for the local intranet zone or copy the repository to your hard drive. (50582)
  • 1012117 A "There was an error exporting the image. (6720)" Error Occurs When Exporting a Document as a PDF File From a Published Repository. (43627)
  • When using the Plus Viewer, you may be unable to change the file name when exporting a multi-page document when you choose to use the Export button on the toolbar. This issue does not occur when you use the Export option from the File menu. (43567)
  • Search performance may be severely degraded when running the repository directly off large optical media (DVD/Blu-ray) due to the need to read through large index files coupled with the generally lower access and read times for those types of media. Searches may time out and return a "no search hits found" message. As a workaround, you may wish to copy the contents of the repository to a local hard drive before performing the search. (43476)
  • 1012114 A "Loading httpserv.dll failed (access denied)." Error Occurs When Loading a Plus Repository. (41845)
  • Ejecting a published CD while the Laserfiche Viewer is running can cause the Laserfiche Viewer to become unstable. (41783)
