Laserfiche 8.3, Laserfiche 9

Summary

Laserfiche 8.3 allows you to install the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Service (LFFTS) separately from the Laserfiche Server. Use the Laserfiche 8.3 Administration Console to point a Laserfiche repository at a different LFFTS server.

More Information

  1. Load the Laserfiche 8.3 Administration Console and log in to the desired repository.
  2. Right-click on the Indexing item and click Properties.
  3. If the repository is not already associated with a LFFTS instance, in the Server option, specify the name of the computer hosting LFFTS. Specify the LFFTS listening port. The default port is 5053.
  4. Click Apply.

After changing the Server and Port options on the General tab, you must first click the Apply button before attempting to create a search catalog. This ensures that Laserfiche refreshes LFFTS information to check whether there is already a matching search catalog on the LFFTS computer.

If you do not first click Apply, immediately click Create, and there is already a matching search catalog file for the repository on the LFFTS computer, you may receive the following error message:

Failed to create a search catalog. A duplicate search catalog was found for the search engine. [9489]

If you encounter this specific issue, you will have to Cancel out of the Indexing Properties dialog box, and repeat the above steps, making sure to Apply the Server and Port changes first.
