This article highlights new features and changes for Web Access 8.3.0.
New Features
- When you configure Laserfiche to start tracking versions for a document, you gain the option to create a new version of the document whenever you modify the pages (image or text), template and field metadata, annotations, or electronic file associated with the Laserfiche document. Each new version of a document is saved in the document's version history.
- All supported browsers allow you to view existing digital signatures on documents. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you also have the option of installing an ActiveX control that allows you to sign documents
- When you select multiple entries in the Folder Browser, the Folder Browser Preview Pane can give you the option to choose whether you want to load field values or to load a "write-only" version of the fields display. This option is useful when you want to quickly assign one field value to a field on a large number of documents
- New Search Types:
- The Versions Search allows you to find documents under version control.
- The Digital Signatures Search allows you to find signed documents with a specific signature.
- An Entry ID search is also now available.
- Performance Optimizations:
- There is now client-side caching and Web Access no longer reloads the entire page if you switch between Web Access tabs.
- Scanning and importing documents is now faster. Previously, Web Access could remain on the Import Files dialog box for several seconds after the upload had already completed.
- Loading the folder browser, opening the Document Viewer or Metadata Viewer for a document, and displaying search results is now faster than in Web Access 8.2.
- The Document Viewer now includes a Show Annotations check box in the toolbar. You can select or clear the check box to show or hide image annotations on the page. This option does not affect redactions if you do not have the See Through Redactions entry access right on the document.
- You can now change the display order for image annotations. In Web Access 8.2, the display order was based on when an annotation was created. Right-click on an image annotation to either send it to the back or to bring it forward. This feature does not affect redactions, text boxes, or callout text. Redactions always appear on the lowest layer. Text boxes and callout text always appear on the highest layer.
- You can now choose a fill color for polygon annotations.
- Callout Text and Text Box annotations now support a font size property. Previously, the font size was fixed, which could cause text to be unreadable when zoomed out on large-resolution images.
- Authorized users can now view the comment for a redaction by placing the mouse cursor over the redaction. Web Access will display a tooltip of the redaction comment.
- Laserfiche administrators can assign a specific color to a template in the Laserfiche Administration Console. The Folder Browser icons for any entry with that template will be show in that color.
- You can now choose which tabs are visible in the Metadata Viewer.
- You can encrypt Laserfiche contents exported as briefcases using AES 128 encryption, and set a password that is required to decrypt the briefcase.
- Laserfiche now calculates volume checksums that allow you to verify that the contents of your volume have not been altered outside of Laserfiche.
- Advanced Audit Trail now allows you to require users to specify a reason when deleting an entry, a portion of a document, or a volume.
- Redactions are reflected in the page thumbnails.
