Laserfiche 8.3

Summary

Laserfiche 8.3.0 is a major release to the core Laserfiche Server and Client products that include a wide range of new features. For a more detailed listing of changes, please see Knowledge Base article 1012848.

Installation Information

Laserfiche 8.3 is available on the Support Site in two packages: Avante and Rio. Team and United customers should use the Avante 8.3 installation package.

Rio 8.3 includes License Manager 8.2. License Manager 8.2 is fully compatible with Laserfiche 8.3 products.

The installation process works best when run from local media. Certain aspects of the installation wizard may not function correctly when run directly from a network drive or file share. For example, the installation may not automatically resume following a reboot after installing the setup prerequisites; you must manually restart the installation. Or you may be unable to assign a domain account during the service configuration step of the installation.

  • Database engine: MSDE (Service Pack 3), Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (Service Pack 3), Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (Service Pack 2), Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Service Pack 2), Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express, Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0.8+), Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4+), Oracle 10g Client (10.2.0.5+), Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7+), Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.1+)

Audit Trail Web Reporting Requirements

  • Web Server: IIS 5.1 (Windows XP), IIS 6 (Windows XP x64 and Windows Server 2003), IIS 7 (Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008), or IIS 7.5 (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)
  • DBMS: Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Oracle 10g, or Oracle 11g
  • Web Browser: Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 2, or Firefox 3 on the computer from which you will configure and generate reports.

  • Memory: 128 MB RAM
  • Operating system: Windows XP (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2008, Windows 7
  • Web browser: Internet Explorer 6.0

Minimum requirements for Laserfiche Scanning and Laserfiche PhotoDocs

  • CPU: 1 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 256 MB RAM

Minimum requirements for doing OCR

  • CPU: 2.4 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM

Recommended requirements

  • CPU: 1 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 256 MB RAM or more

Recommended requirements for Laserfiche Scanning and Laserfiche PhotoDocs

  • CPU: 2.4 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM or more

Recommended requirements for doing OCR

  • CPU: Dual core 2.8 GHz or faster processor
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM or more

Known Issues

Product Issue
Server You cannot modify the definition of a field if that field exists in the version history of a document.
Administration Console The checkbox for enabling audit log timestamps is always disabled. As a workaround, use the Web Administration Console to enable the option. (82363)
Administration Console You cannot host the audit log file on a mapped drive. (82261)
Administration Console Unregistering and reregistering a repository resets the location of the audit logs. (34062)
Audit Trail Audit Trail may not be fully optimized for large data sets. (81573)
Audit Trail Large legends can potentially obscure chart data. (34888)
Client 1012878 An "Error 2753. The File 'LFSession.exe.1606D57C_7C31_40C1_8AC2_32C0B957420' is not marked for installation" Occurs When Installing Import Agent 8.1.
Client Laserfiche may not properly display certain images without the latest Windows Imaging Component updates. Please see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article (62978):

Send to Laserfiche The CTRL + S shortcut does not properly support the Send to Laserfiche feature in PowerPoint 2003. Click the Save toolbar button instead. (82271)
Snapshot When processing a batch of documents, Snapshot may display a "The group file could not be found." error message. Snapshot will skip the problem document and continue processing the next document in the batch. (82035)
Web Administration Console The Arabic (Kuwait) Hijri date calendar is 1 day off. (77745)
