This article highlights new features and changes for Laserfiche 8.3.0.
Laserfiche Server
- Laserfiche 8.3 significantly expands and improves the versions feature. Laserfiche now tracks version history within each document. For example, if you open a document that is under version control and change the value in a field, and then save the changes, a new version would be created with the new field information. The same is true of other changes, such as modifications to pages, electronic files, annotations, templates, or fields.
- You can now digitally sign documents, indicating that the document is authentic and that it has been signed by a particular person. You can also validate signatures to verify that the document contents have not been modified since signing.
- You can now associate a template with a color. Icons for documents and folders that have been assigned that template will be displayed in that color in the Client.
- Laserfiche now calculates volume checksums that allow you to verify that the contents of your volume have not been altered outside of Laserfiche.
- You can encrypt Laserfiche contents exported as briefcases using AES 128 encryption, and set a password that is required to decrypt the briefcase.
- Laserfiche can now automatically generate thumbnails for documents. This feature can decrease the time needed to load new documents for the first time.
- You now have the option to assign a VERS classification level on a folder.
- Advanced Audit Trail now allows you to require users to specify a reason when deleting an entry, a portion of a document, or a volume.
- Advanced Audit Trail now includes an audit log verification feature.
- The Entry Owner of a document is now automatically granted the Browse entry access right on that document.
Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Service (LFFTS)
- You can now choose to install LFFTS on a different computer from the Laserfiche Server.
- You can view the status of a search engine's indexing process, viewing the indexing status, the size of the queue, and the search engine performance.
Laserfiche Web Administration Console
- Laserfiche 8.3 introduces the Laserfiche Web Administration Console, a tool that provides secure administrative access to authorized users via an Internet browser, making administration more flexible than ever.
Laserfiche Client
- You can now save different customized column displays with column profiles and easily switch between profiles without manually re-configuring them.
- Laserfiche 8.3 includes several new enhancements to annotations. Users can customize the font size in Text Box and Callout Text annotations, and can specify a fill color for polygon annotations. The annotation display order can be customized, allowing users to determine the way overlapping annotations are displayed. Finally, redactions are reflected in the page thumbnails.
- The Laserfiche Office integration is now fully compatible with the x64 version of Microsoft Office 2010. In addition, it features an extensive integration with the new version control feature.
- You can now search for entries that have a field containing a blank value within the user interface.
Snapshot
- Laserfiche Snapshot 8.3 features enhancements to batch processing, as well as improvements to performance and troubleshooting.
PhotoDocs
- Laserfiche PhotoDocs 8.3 now includes the ability to crop images processed through PhotoDocs. This is particularly useful for images with an unusual size or shape (such as photographs of receipts used for filing expense reports).
Laserfiche 8.3.0 includes all hotfixes previously released for Laserfiche 8.2.1.
