Important: This hotfix has been superseded by Knowledge Base article 1012842.
This article details hotfix 1012813 for Laserfiche 8.2.1. The fix includes .msp files that update the Laserfiche Server, Laserfiche Search Engine, Laserfiche Client, and Laserfiche Scanning.
Laserfiche Server
The Laserfiche Server update includes the following changes:
- You can now attach volumes exported from Laserfiche 8.1.2 to a Laserfiche 8.2.1 repository when the exported volume includes documents with redactions. (74804)
- Certain custom integrations could cause the Laserfiche Server to become unstable if the integration attempts to retrieve properties from an LFSearchStats object before the Server finishes parsing the submitted search string. This issue no longer occurs. (74749)
- You no longer receive a "This document has changed on the server, and must be reloaded before it may be modified. Do you wish to get the latest version now?" message prompt in the Laserfiche Client when you create a document and then attempt to modify metadata on the parent folder. (74759)
- Results for LFQL queries involving template names should now return as fast as in Laserfiche Server 8.2.0. This issue was most visible from Quick Fields 8 sessions using the Laserfiche Capture Engine to extract documents using template name. (73563)
- Laserfiche Server no longer becomes unstable if an internal process is unable to retrieve information on an Active Directory user. This issue could occur when viewing the effective rights for a Windows account. (73714)
- Domain users without the Manage Connections privilege can no longer log in to a locked repository. (73546)
- Laserfiche now returns results for LFQL queries that select only from a repository's root folder. (73950)
- Laserfiche Server no longer becomes unstable if a user imports a Laserfiche briefcase file that contains field values set to %(parent:fieldName) where fieldName does not exist in the target Laserfiche repository. When the issue occurred, the Server could crash and you would receive a "Failed to import new document. (Could not connect to the Laserfiche Server.)[797]" error message in the Laserfiche Client. (73154)
- There is now an optimization that will prevent Laserfiche from unnecessarily utilizing 100% of the computer's processor (CPU) when running searches. (74147)
- Moving or renaming an entry more than once using the same internal object reference no longer moves the entry to the root folder of your Laserfiche repository. (72896).
- The Laserfiche 8.1.2 to 8.2.0 repository upgrade process is now faster. (74309)
- Laserfiche now properly loads existing stamp images that are up to 128 KB in file size.
The Laserfiche Server update includes the following file versions:
- cr.dll (8.2.1.687)
- httpserv.dll (8.2.1.687)
- lfbriefcase.dll (8.2.1.687)
- ms-upg20.sql (last modified on June 27, 2011)
- ms-upg22.sql (last modified on July 6, 2011)
- ora-upg20.sql (last modified on June 27,2011)
- ora-upg22.sql (last modified on July 6, 2011)
Laserfiche Search Engine

- When generating image pages from a PDF file, extracted text now contain spaces. (74826)
- Canceling a search once again functions as expected. (72169)
- Certain versions of a native Windows component could cause Laserfiche to display image thumbnails as black blocks. Laserfiche now uses its own internal component to load thumbnails. (72304)
- The Document Viewer now properly selects only the desired thumbnails when you use SHIFT-click to select multiple thumbnails. (58073)
- Laserfiche no longer keeps large documents locked after you add or modify an annotation and close the Document Viewer without first explicitly saving the document. Previously, this issue could prevent you from making further modifications to the document until you closed and reopened the Laserfiche Client. (72818)
- The Laserfiche Client no longer unexpectedly closes if you close the Document Viewer while it is in the middle of loading thumbnails. (72910)
- The search results pane now properly display values for field columns the first time you run a field search. (73354)
- The search results pane no longer hides field columns after a refresh. The search results pane normally automatically refreshes itself when you modify a search result. (73362)
- The search results pane no longer always defaults to sorting by name when you choose to sort by a field column and run a new quick search. (73921)
- The "Save changes to document pages?" confirmation dialog box now recognizes the 'Y' and 'N' keys as clicks on the Yes and No buttons, respectively. (74314)
- The Laserfiche Client now properly logs in through SSL when appropriate. Previously, the Client would only use SSL when you manually attached a repository on the Laserfiche Client Start Page. (74411)
- Laserfiche no longer displays the "locked document" icon for a document after you rename a document from inside the Document Viewer. Previously, this issue could also cause Laserfiche to display a "This document has changed on the server, and must be reloaded before it may be modified. Do you wish to get the latest version now?" message prompt. (69077)
- When importing a file into a repository, Laserfiche no longer keeps excess handles on the imported file after completing the import process. Previously, in certain versions of Windows, this issue could prevent you from deleting that file from disk until you closed the Laserfiche Client. (74387)
- Certain types of PDF files no longer cause the Laserfiche Client to becomes unstable during the import process when you choose to generate image pages for the PDF files. (72905)
