Summary

Laserfiche Client 8 may become unresponsive when you attempt to resize the Metadata Pane in the Document Viewer.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche Client 8.2.1 and later. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche 8.

Workaround

Use the [SETTINGS]Ghostbars trustee attribute to prevent the Document Viewer panes from being redrawn until the user finishes the resizing action.

To add the [SETTINGS]Ghostbars trustee attribute using the Laserfiche 8 Administration Console

1. Load the Laserfiche 8 Administration Console and log in to the desired Laserfiche repository.
2. Expand the Users and Groups node and select the Everyone node.
3. In the properties pane, double-click Everyone to view the Everyone Properties dialog box.
4. In the Properties dialog box for the Everyone account, click the Attributes tab.
5. Click the Add button to load the Add Attribute dialog box.
6. Specify the following value in the Name field:

[SETTINGS]Ghostbars

7. Specify the following value in the Data field:

Yes

8. Click OK to close the Add Attribute dialog box.
9. Click OK on the Everyone Properties dialog box to save your change.

Note: While the above steps use the Everyone group, you can also set the attribute on a specific user account. The attribute value for a specific user will override the value set on a group.
