Summary

This article details hotfix 1012760 for Laserfiche 8.2.0. The fix includes .msp files with updates to Laserfiche Server, the Laserfiche Search Engine, Laserfiche Client, Laserfiche Scanning, and the Laserfiche Administration Console. The fix also includes updated versions of the setup.exe.

Laserfiche Server

The Laserfiche Server update includes the following changes:

  • There is now a 64 KB size limit on stamp images. (69504, 69547, 69844)
  • The Laserfiche Server now automatically creates a TEMP subfolder when needed in a volume when you change the volume path without restarting the Laserfiche Server. (69477)
  • Laserfiche now moves rolled-over audit log files to the correct location when the rollover directory is on a different hard disk from the main audit log file. Previously, the rollover logs would remain in the same folder as the main audit log file. (69552)
  • There was a potential issue that could cause full text searches to not properly display the context hits for a selected document in the search results. The context hits pane in the Laserfiche Client would list the correct number of context hits, but each line would only display "pg.0". (69668)
  • There is now a "last modified by" search available through the advanced search syntax. For example, {LF:LastModifiedBy="ADMIN"} will return all entries last modified by the "Admin" user. (68549)
  • Laserfiche now correctly creates rollover audit log files when the main audit log's file name does not contain a . (period) character. (69771)
  • You can now change an entry's owner when the original entry owner no longer exists. (69880)
  • The {LF:parentname} search no longer causes Laserfiche to become unstable. (69906)
  • Assigning an invalid value to an integer type or long integer type field now correctly throws error 9017 instead of failing silently. (68987)
  • The Path column now sorts correctly. (70017)
  • In certain situations, the Laserfiche Server could become unstable when there are multiple long running searches. This issue is now resolved. (70036)
  • Users with only the Manage Audit Settings privilege can now modify audit settings. (70131)
  • Refreshing the All Sessions item in the Laserfiche 8 Administration Console no longer occasionally displays a "The object is not identified, and cannot be locked or read from. [772]" error message. (70140)

Laserfiche Administration Console Changes

The Laserfiche Administration Console update includes the following changes:

  • In the Everyone group's Properties dialog box, the General tab's Named User section now allows you to clear the check box next to assigned Laserfiche Named Users. (68204)

Laserfiche Client Changes

The Laserfiche Client update includes the following changes:

  • There is now better memory management when exporting or OCRing a large number of images. (17606, 68051)
  • The folder browser and search results display may reload quicker after adding fields to the column display. (69669)
  • Laserfiche now properly imports legacy style (Laserfiche 6 or 7) briefcase files that contain template fields. You no longer receive a "The server does not support the requested property" error message. (69814)
  • Laserfiche now detects if a selected printer driver lacks support for an internal feature and automatically switches to an alternate method for printing when necessary. This resolves the issue where image annotations could print as solid black blocks and also resolves the issue when printing could result in a system crash. (68782)
  • You can now open Microsoft Office documents with file names that contain one of the following characters: " < > &. (69519)
  • Sticky note text now properly prints. (69510)
  • The Print Folder Contents and Export List Contents options now include all field values for a multiple value (multi-value) field. (69712)
  • The option to directly generate page images for PDF files now creates images with smaller file sizes. (69045)
  • The option to directly generate page images for PDF files now create better quality images for certain documents. (68475)
  • The focus now remains on the selected entry in the folder browser when the Preview Pane is open. (69454)

  • In certain situations, when viewing a text-only document, the thumbnail pane may display a thumbnail page with unexpectedly large font. This issue is now resolved. (56215)

Setup.exe Changes

There updated setup.exe includes the following changes:

  • When re-launching installations from setup.exe, the bootstrapper now loads the product .msi in maintenance mode when appropriate. Previously, the installation would not launch in maintenance mode if the product had been patched to a newer version than the .msi.
  • On new installations, setup.exe will pull .msp files from the "updates" subfolder.

Note: All updates in this Knowledge Base article are included as part of the Laserfiche 8.2 and Rio installations released on March 7, 2011 or later with a setup.exe of version 8.2.0.636 or higher. Each installation contains an "updates" subfolder with the .msp patch files. When using the updated installation, the installation process will automatically detect and install the appropriate .msp files located in that subfolder. If you have not yet performed the upgrade, please download the most recent version of the Laserfiche 8.2 or Rio installations.

  1. Stop the Laserfiche Server service.
