A "Location data out of range. [9134]" Error Message Occurs When Using Sending Large Images to Laserfiche From Web Access Scanning 8.2.0.

February 25, 2011 | KB: 1012749
Web Access 8.2

Summary

When using Web Access Scanning 8.2.0, you may receive a "Location data out of range. [9134]" error message when sending large image files where OCR is enabled.

Cause

When storing large images in Laserfiche, Web Scanning sends image data in chunks. Web Scanning incorrectly sends duplicate copies of the OCR text and location data each time a piece of image data is sent to Laserfiche and eventually exceeds a size limit.

Resolution

If you already have Web Scanning 8.2.0 installed on your computer, you can download and install a .msp patch file to resolve the issue.

To update Laserfiche Scanning 8.2.0

  1. Click the following link to download a zip file containing hotfix for Web Scanning.

    KB1012749_lfscanning_win32.zip

  2. Extract the contents of the zip file to a temporary location and double-click the .msp file to update Web Scanning.

More Information

This hotfix is also part of the Web Scanning installation package included in the Web Access 8.2 installations released on February 7, 2011 or later. If you wish to replace the version of the Web Scanning installation that is hosted on your existing Web Access 8.2 server, please download the most recent version of Web Access 8.2 from the Laserfiche Support Site and replace your existing Web Scanning package on your Web server with the updated version. Subsequent users who download Web Scanning from your Web Access site will not encounter this issue. The Web Scanning installation (LfWebScan82.exe) stored on the Web Access server is located in the "Web Files\Scanning" subfolder. By default, the full path is "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access 8\Web Files\Scanning."

You must also update the version number stored in the WebScanBuildNum.txt file located in the same folder. Open the text file and change the version number from 8.2.0.605 to to 8.2.0.622 and save the file.
