Summary

By default, the "Include variations of root word in full-text searches" option in Laserfiche 8.2 only supports English searches. You can modify the registry on the computer hosting LFFTS to change the default language for a search catalog.

Modify the CatalogLanguage string value under the appropriate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\LFFTS\Database\GUID registry key. Set the CatalogLanguage value to one of the following 2-letter language codes.

es Spanish
fr French
it Italian
pt Portuguese
tr Turkish

Important: Incorrectly editing the registry may adversely affect your system. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs.

To update the CatalogLanguage string value

  1. On the computer hosting Laserfiche Server, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, and click Command Prompt to load a command prompt.
  2. Note: In a UAC environment, load an elevated command prompt by right-clicking on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

  3. Type the following and press ENTER to load the Windows Registry Editor:
  4. regedit

  5. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  6. Expand SOFTWARE.
  7. Expand Laserfiche.
  8. Expand LFFTS.
  9. Expand Database.
  10. Select the GUID registry key for your repository.
  11. Double-click the CatalogLanguage string value and change the value to the appropriate 2-letter language code for the desired language.

After modifying the CatalogLanguage value, you must reindex your repository.

Note: Laserfiche also supports detecting variations of irregular verbs in English.
