Summary

When installing Audit Trail Reporting 8, you may receive the following error message:

Setup resource decompression failure

Cause

This error can occur when the InstallAware installer framework is unable to extract temporary files to your Windows TEMP folder.

Workaround 1

Verify that there is sufficient disk space available for your Windows TEMP folder and verify that you have sufficient rights to write to the Windows TEMP folder. If necessary, modify the Windows TEMP system variable to point to a location with sufficient disk space and where you have sufficient rights.

Workaround 2

1. On a computer where you have sufficient rights to the Windows TEMP folder, launch the LaserficheAuditTrail8.exe self-package file to extract the installation files. Make sure the installation wizard successfully loads.
2. Make note of any extracted installation files and copy the extracted installation to the original computer.
3. Extract the contents of the self-contained on a different computer and copy the extracted installation files to the desired computer. Find a computer where you CAN extract it (your machine probably works) and launch the install. It will uncompress and then launch the setup wizard. Now go find it in the temp location (check folders called mia1/2, etc..) and grab the files it made there and send THAT to them (customer) and have them try launching the setup directly (basically, bypass the decompression step)
