A "Unknown error. [6000]" Error Occurs When You Attempt to Log In to a Laserfiche 8 Repository Using a Laserfiche 7 Client.

September 13, 2010 | KB: 1012671
Laserfiche 8, Laserfiche 9

Summary

If you create a repository using a Laserfiche 8 Server that contains non-ASCII characters in the name, then attempt to log in to it using a Laserfiche 7 Client, you may receive the following error:

    Unknown error. [6000]

You may also be unable to remove the repository from the Client's list of available repositories.

Note: This issue may not apply to all non-ASCII characters.

More Information

In most cases, the non-ASCII characters in the repository name cause the error to occur. For this reason, do not use non-ASCII characters to name a version 8 repository that needs to interact with version 7 Clients.

Tip: You can rename a repository by unregistering it, then re-registering it using a different name. For more information, see the Unregistering a Repository and Registering a Repository topics in the Laserfiche Administration Console help files.
