When using the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express installation included with Laserfiche 8 to install a "Laserfiche" instance of SQL Server, you may receive the following error message:

An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Sqlncli.msi'.

There is a known issue with the SQL Server 2005 Express installation where an existing SQL Native Client installation may prevent the installation from running.

As a workaround, uninstall the existing SQL Native Client by using the Windows Add or Remove Programs before running the SQL Server 2005 Express installation.
