The WebLink 8 Installation May Not Successfully Create the "WebLink 8 Reporting" Virtual Directory.

Summary

After installing WebLink 8 on a Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 computer, IIS may not contain a "WebLink 8 Reporting" virtual directory.

Cause

This issue can occur when installing WebLink 8 on a Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 computer when Laserfiche Server 8 is also installed and running on the same computer.

Workaround 1

Temporarily shut down the Laserfiche Server service before running the WebLink installation.

  1. Stop the Laserfiche Server service.
  2. Uninstall Laserfiche WebLink 8.
  3. Reinstall Laserfiche WebLink 8.
  4. Restart the Laserfiche Server service.

Workaround 2

Manually create an IIS virtual directory for WebLink 8 Reporting.

To create a virtual directory in IIS 6 for Windows Server 2003

  1. Click Start, Administrative Tools, and load Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. Select Default Web Site.
  3. From the Action menu, point to New, and then click Virtual Directory.
  4. Click Next.
  5. From the Virtual Directory Alias step, type a name for the virtual directory.
  6. Click Next.
  7. From the Web Site Content Directory step, type or browse to the "Weblink8Reporting" subfolder located in your Laserfiche WebLink 8 installation folder. By default, the path should be "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\WebLink 8\WebLink8Reporting." On a 64-bit version of Windows, the default path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\WebLink 8\WebLink8Reporting."
  8. Click Next.
  9. From the Virtual Directory Access Permissions step, select the Read and Run scripts (such as ASP) options.
  10. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  11. Configure the virtual directory to use the WebLink8AppPool application pool.
    1. In the IIS Manager window, select your newly created virtual directory.
    2. From the Action menu, click Properties.
    3. On the Virtual Directory tab, in the Application pool drop-down list, select the WebLink8AppPool application pool.
  12. Specify a default page.
    1. In the IIS Manager window, select your newly created virtual directory.
    2. From the Action menu, click Properties.
    3. Click the Documents tab.
    4. Select the Enable Default Document option.
    5. Click Add to load the Add Default Document dialog box.
    6. Type the following and click OK to add Login.aspx as the default document.
