Laserfiche 8 Administration Console Returns an "Invalid pointer (-2147467261)" Error When Attempting to Configure a Search Index Catalog.

Summary

When attempting to create, attach, delete, or detach a search index catalog in the Laserfiche Administration Console, the following error is displayed:

    Invalid pointer (-2147467261)

The Administration Console may also inadvertently close.

Cause

The user logged in to the Administration Console has not been granted the Configure Search/Index privilege.

Resolution

Complete the steps below to grant one or more trustees the Configure Search/Index privilege:

  1. Open the Administration Console and log in to a repository as a user that has been granted the Set Trustee Privileges privileges.
  2. In the console tree, expand a repository, then Users and Groups.
  3. Select the type of trustee you want to grant the ability to configure a search index catalog to: users, groups, Windows accounts, or LDAP accounts.
  4. Double-click a specific account.

    Note: For LDAP accounts, expand LDAP Management, select Accounts, then double-click a specific account.

  5. Select the Rights tab.
  6. Under Assigned Privileges, scroll down to locate the Configure Search/Index privilege and select it.
  7. Select OK.

Note: Users needing to configure a search index catalog in the Administration Console should log out and back in for the new security setting to be applied.
