Laserfiche 8.1

Summary

Laserfiche Scanning 8.1 creates grayscale and color images in TIFF-LZW file format. The file compression for this file format may result in larger than expected file sizes.

More Information

The Laserfiche Image Converter utility can convert existing TIFF-LZW grayscale and color image files stored in your Laserfiche volume to JPEG format. The utility will prompt you to specify login information and takes into account Laserfiche security.

Click the following link to download a self-extracting executable that contains the files needed for the image file format conversion utility.

LaserficheImageConverter.exe

Double-click the self-extracting executable to load the installation.

Note: The utility relies on components installed with Laserfiche Client 8.1.x. Make sure Laserfiche Client 8.1.x is installed on the computer where you wish to run the utility.

Instructions for using the TiffLZW to TiffJPEG image converter

Note: The following steps are included in the "Instructions.txt" readme file located in the utility's installation folder.

  1. Open the Laserfiche Image Converter folder and double-click on TiffLzwJpeg.exe.
  2. This will bring up a dialog box where you can set the repository name and log in.
  3. Recommended: Create a new dedicated user with only the basic rights needed for use with the utility. The user for the utility needs the Browse and Read entry access rights to the folders containing the source documents. The user also needs the Browse, Read, and Modify Contents entry access rights on the actual documents.

  4. Browse to the path of the documents within the repository. Please browse to a test folder containing a couple of sample large images first as a test.
  5. Set the compression quality (for example to 235) and optionally filter which documents to convert by bit depth, creation date, or modification date. You may also choose to create a CSV file that logs the process. It will record the files that were converted and list any errors that occurred.
  6. Click the Start button to begin the conversion process. The utility displays the current status. If successful, you can check the resulting size in the document's properties (right-click) within the Laserfiche client. The compression quality can be changed as needed.
  7. If the results are acceptable on the test images, the utility can be run on the folders where the large sized files are located.

Recommended: Run the utility during off-hours if you need to convert a large number of images.
