Windows Vista Editions Without IIS Windows Authentication Cannot Host Laserfiche Web Products Using this Feature.

September 27, 2010 | KB: 1012600
Web Access, WebLink, Audit Trail

Summary

The following Windows Vista editions do not support Windows Authentication as an Internet Information Systems (IIS) feature: Basic, Starter, Premium. If you attempt to host a Laserfiche web product on this operating system, and this product attempts to use this IIS feature, authentication will fail and you will receive an error (in many cases, this error will either be a 500.19 or a 401 error).

Note: You will receive the same error if the operating system supports Windows Authentication but this feature has not been enabled in IIS.

The following list explains how this issue affects each Laserfiche web product:

  • Web Access can optionally be configured to authenticate users via Windows Authentication. More info.
  • WebLink can optionally be configured to authenticate users via Windows Authentication. More info.
  • Audit Trail requires Windows Authentication, and cannot be hosted on one of the aforementioned Vista editions. More info.
  • Agenda Manager does not use Windows Authentication.
