Summary

This article will provide information about how to troubleshoot "General database error. [9008]" errors and what relevant information to collect to when contacting Laserfiche Support.

More Information

Error code 9008 represents a generic class of errors where Laserfiche Server 8 encounters any type of error when attempting to execute an SQL statement. Such a situation can usually be traced to one of the following types of issues:

  • A connectivity issue due to certain DBMS or network configurations
  • Data corruption in the database
  • An actual issue with the Laserfiche Server

If the Laserfiche Server and SQL DBMS are both hosted on the same computer or a database connectivity issue has been otherwise ruled out, please collect the following information for Laserfiche Technical Support:

  1. The full version of the Laserfiche Server (view the file properties of the cr.dll file found in the Laserfiche Server installation folder) and whether it is the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Laserfiche
  2. The full version of the SQL DBMS (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1, Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7), etc.) and whether it is the 32-bit or 64-bit version
  3. The full message from associated entries in the Windows Event Log's Application Log on the Laserfiche Server computer. Look for entries with Event ID 10050.
