A "Library not registered. Unknown error. [6000]" Error Message Occurs When Sending An E-mail Message With Laserfiche Client 8.

Laserfiche 8, Laserfiche 9

Summary

When you click Create E-mail from the Selected Attachments dialog box, you may receive the following error message:

    Library not registered.
    Unknown error. [6000]

The issue can occur when Microsoft Outlook is the default e-mail client program.

Cause

When Microsoft Outlook is the default E-mail client program on a computer, Laserfiche creates e-mail messages using the Outlook Object Model. In certain configurations, this functionality is unavailable.

Workaround

Configure Laserfiche to use generic MAPI objects instead of the Outlook object interface by adding the following trustee attribute to the desired user or group account:

[SETTINGS]ExportEmailUseOutlookObjects

To add the [SETTINGS]ExportEmailUseOutlookObjects trustee attribute using the Laserfiche Administration Console

  1. Load the Laserfiche Administration Console and log in to the desired Laserfiche repository.
  2. Expand the Users and Groups node and select the Everyone node.
  3. Right-click on the Everyone item in the properties pane and click Properties.
  4. In the Properties dialog box for the Everyone account, click the Attributes tab.
  5. Click the Add button to load the Add Attribute dialog box.
  6. Specify the following value in the Name field:
  7. [SETTINGS]ExportEmailUseOutlookObjects

Note: Attribute names are case sensitive.

  8. Specify the following value in the Data field:
  9. No

  10. Click OK to close the Add Attribute dialog box.
  11. Click OK on the Everyone Properties dialog box to save your change.

Note:

  • While the above steps use the Everyone group, you can also set the attribute on a specific user account. The attribute value for a specific user will override the value set on a group.
  • In some configurations, setting the [SETTINGS]ExportEmailUseOutlookObjects attribute may cause the Laserfiche Client to fail to generate an email window and no error is given. In those cases, the attribute should be removed.
