This article details hotfix 1012394 for Laserfiche Server 8.1.1. This fix resolves the following issues:
- Laserfiche may not correctly delete the electronic file component of an electronic document. Attempting to modify the template assigned to such a document may return a "Could not lock document for writing. The object needs to be refreshed before it can be updated. [9063]" error message. This issue is now resolved. (54235)
- You may be unable to attach legacy Laserfiche 6 or Laserfiche 7 volumes to a Laserfiche 8 repository if the legacy volumes contains entry names or field values with non-ASCII characters. This issue is now resolved. (54160)
- You may receive a "General database error [9008]" error message when purging a single page from the Recycle Bin. This issue is now resolved. (53864)
There is a hotfix available for Laserfiche Server 8.1.1. The fix is an updated version of cr.dll (version 8.1.1.615).
Note: This hotfix is superseded by cr.dll (version 8.1.1.625). Please see Knowledge Base article 1012429.
To update Laserfiche Server 8.1.1
- Stop the Laserfiche Server service.
- Click one of the following links to download either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the hotfix.

- Replace your existing version of cr.dll with the updated version included in the zip file. By default, the file is in "C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Server."
- Restart the Laserfiche Server service.
The hotfix prevents any future occurrences of the issue involving an incomplete deletion of the electronic file component of an electronic document. However, you will have to manually modify your database to correct any documents that have already encountered the issue.
Manually run the following SQL statement to correct the issue
update toc set edoc_etag = tocid where edoc_etag is null
