Launching a Published Plus 8 Repository Prompts You For a Password Even Though The Repository Is Not Encrypted.

Plus 8

Summary

When launching a Plus 8 published repository, you receive a Login dialog box that prompts you for a password even though the Plus repository is not encrypted with a password.

Cause

This issue can occur when loading a large published repository from a slow DVD drive.

Workaround

When Plus is loaded from a DVD drive, you automatically receive a prompt to allow Plus to copy a small set of files to the TEMP directory of your local hard disk. This option provides significant performance advantages and prevents the loading process from timing out and erroneously displaying the login dialog box.

If you do not allow Plus to copy the set of system files to your local hard disk, please make sure that your DVD-ROM drive has a data transfer rate of around 4000 kilobytes/second and that the computer has at least 512 MB of RAM.

More Information

To view your DVD-ROM drive's transfer rate

  1. Insert a DVD into the DVD drive.
  2. Click Start, and point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click System Information.
  3. Expand Components and click CD-ROM.
  4. Note the value of the Transfer Rate item.
